Spy Hunter! One of the most beloved and frustrating to play games ever made. When I first starting collecting arcade machines about 8 years ago I always wanted to own a Spy Hunter. Despite the games popularity the cabinets are hard to find. I searched forever and finally found a upright version in Sacramento. Off I went on another road trip and soon I had a Spy Hunter. Spent countless hours fixing everything as the MCR set up can be challenging to say the least. All the while longing to own the cockpit version.
Spent the next year or so enjoying my UR cab with plans of doing a proper restoration. During that time my wife expressed interest in owning a Q*bert. Another hard to find arcade cabinet. While looking for one I came across another KLOV member who just happen to have a sit down Spy Hunter that needed a good restoration. It was missing some parts but I figured I could take on the challenge. My road trip to grab the both cabs was documented here. So it's taken about one year to gather all the parts I needed but I'm ready to dive into this project. Fast forward to today and I've fixed about 6 UR SH's for various people so I'm confident I'm ready for this. Don't see any Spy Hunter cockpit / sit down restoration threads so here goes.

The is a huge difference between the parts from a UR to the sit down version. I'll be going into detail between the two as the restoration progresses.

To start I'll post pics of the cab as is so we can see the start to finish pics. The cab is missing the OEM cross brace that holds the to half's together. I made a temporary 2x6 set up for now so the cab can be moved around.
