Spy Hunter Cockpit / Sit down Restoration

Back door finished and installed. Had to put the vents on and the cam lock.

Also installed the smoked plex on the monitor shroud.

All that left is the wait for the metal floor plate that I'm having a local shop do and the chrome brackets that get installed over where to two cabs met.

Looks really nice!

How did the UV LEDs turn out for the CP? Or will that be a final tweak once everything else is done?

Good question. I bought some small led diffusers to see if it helps to spread the UV light over the CPO more. I have the whole thing wired to the HD switcher which is not used to run the cab right now. Also put a small .500MA inline fuse for protection. The whole thing is controlled by a RV dimmer from inside the cab so I can always just turn it off if needed.

I'm considering added a small LED strip underneath where the gas pedal is. Maybe a soft red glow just to make it easier to locate the pedle in the dark.

I have a comment. I know this is about the arcade hobby but I would be so curious to see what's under that car cover!
OK back to the lobby, I'm thinking, maybe for this kind of application, you should put a clear mylar over the overlay to protect it, what do you think?

Oh yeah, that's a beast alright! Thanks for sharing.
Yeah by mylar I mean not a sprayed clearcoat, but like a thick mylar that goes on a pinball playfield. I never played in a sitdown Spy Hunter, but I did in an environmental Disc of Tron and I remember the overlay there being completely ruined from months of stepping on it.
Incredible job on this machine. I hope you enjoy playing it soon.

It's a tough textured vinyl that fairly tick. We'll see how it goes. Doubt in a home environment it will get much use.

Appreciate the kind words.

Did my first real sit down game today. Got on a good run. But man my butt was getting numb. Need to get the plastic seat installed. Lol

As someone who owned this game for years and never did anything with it this is amazing! Looks so much better than I could ever have imagined. Hats off to you for what you have done to bring it back!

Appreciate it brother.

Seems like a long time ago when I made that trip North to grab Qbert and this cab. Lol

Well I told she'd go to a good home and I'd find a way to bring her back to life.

You have a open invite if you're ever in SoCal to come play it personally.

I had plans of using two part epoxy to reinforce the plastic seat I bought from Paradise Arcade Shop. But upon further inspection they used really thick plastic to reproduce this thing so I've decided to roll with it as it came from them. Being HUO I'm sure it will hold up just fine.

Seat install is very basic. Just some screws secure under the front lip of where the bottom seat portion is. The back is supposed to have one brand staples per side but I'm not liking putting holes in this brand new seat. So I'll see if it stays in position without the upper staples for now.

Except for the stainless steel brackets this is about the last piece to go on I think.
