Spy Hunter cockpit seat repro interest and opinion

Great news fizgig. I still need one. Phineas Foo exiting the hobby was a real bummer. We need a vacuum former in this hobby!

Quick question. Does anyone know whether the original chairs were vacuum formed or made in a roto mold?

The reason I ask is because the texture on the NOS seat pic in the OP doesn't appear stretched and deformed the way it should be in a vacuum form construction.

Oh my gosh, zf. That must've made your heart sink because not only are they hard to come by, but they're expensive. Sorry to hear that!

It sucked pretty bad...And I'm only 180 pounds so it's not like I put too much stress on it. I might be in for a seat now if I don't sell this thing before that.....

I'm late to the party. If I'm reading this correctly someone found an NOS spy hunter seat, installed it on a game, and it broke?

How in the heck was a NOS spy hunter seat located? I'd love to hear the story.

I don't want to derail the thread, quick story... User Mylstar on the forum has Thousands of NOS parts, he had two Spy Hunter seats. I bought one, he sold the other and has no more. If he ever does find any more he will let the forum know.

Friend of mine had one also and sold it to Fiz.

I still need one.

Too bad the two people that seemed like they could make this happen in this thread were both banned.

I imagine seats have gotten even more scarce since this project was discussed, but if anyone has one and would be willing to share it with me, I WILL get these seats made.

I have what's left of my original seat (the seat back), and that was going to be used as a basis for reproducing the whole thing. This project will certainly take some work since we don't have an NOS to start from, and I'd be very surprised if anyone finds one at this point. As I recall, ZF's NOS seat cracked not long after installing it (repros HAVE to be made more durable than the originals) so I think hoping for someone to have a complete and unbroken original is not likely to pay off either.

Just as I was before, I would still be happy to work with someone to see this get done. I would be happy to loan out my seat back to a forum member with a good, strong reputation on the assumption that it wouldn't be gone for many months or years.

I haven't been active on klov in recent months but I do get email notifications (hence coming here to post a reply) so if someone does want to pursue this project and wants my help, please PM me and/or reply to this thread.

Anything's possible but I believe virtually all seat bottoms broke because they were severely lacking in durability. If you want to wait for a complete seat more power to you and I hope you find one but I'm not holding my breath and I think the project will have to be done using just a back and extrapolating from the seat back to the seat bottom. The bottom is just like the back so it shouldn't be rocket science but at the same time it will probably take a fair bit of work.

Would people be willing to do these for 150 to 200 each? If I can sell 20 I can get a custom mold done. This is a rough estimate based on pics, not the molder seeing the actual part
