I picked up an old Spy Hunter cab under the impression that the only thing it would be good for was breaking down for parts. I need the control panel and pedal for a MAME cabinet.

Upon closer inspection it looks like I have no real choice but to restore it instead. The nails and staples have pulled out but the wood seems to be sound except for a banged up back corner.

So to the questions now.. When the corners separated the PCB stack fell over onto the power supply and a few easily replaced components were damaged. A DIP switch package and a couple of resistor networks. No biggie there.

What I've also discovered is that a bank of caps and another resistor network seem to have been simply cut off.

This photo I found online shows the affected section. The RM3 resistor and the entire row of caps labeled C104-C111 to the right of it are missing.

The reason I ask about these is that about half the pics I find online have these missing while the rest are intact like the linked pic. Do I need to replace the missing pieces or were they removed to disable a damaged section of the circuit?

This also means I'm still in the market for a control panel and pedal if anyone has one collecting dust.

Thanks!

???

I saw post about "Cheap Squeak Deluxe" but you are talking about the MCR Board set?

Do you have a picture of YOUR board set with what is damaged..

There is no "Bypassing" sections on any board, if the section wasn't needed, it would of never been put on the board.

as for the Cheap Squeak Deluxe, I just fixed one in my SH the other day, pretty simple board to fix.

as for resto, there is no CPO available yet.

Oops. Super Sound board

You are correct of course. That's what I get for trying to read a PDF of the parts list instead of printing it out.

It's the Super Sound I/O board.

The missing caps as listed in the first post are C104-C111 and the resistor is RM3.

The components are removed too neatly for them to have been knocked off by falling against the power supply.

i will try to take a picture of the my boardset, looks to me like your damage is the dipsw, rm1 next to it, and the home made resister network in the lower left of the picture.

Yes. The DIP switch and resistor networks are damaged and were mentioned in the original post. Replacements have already been ordered.

The question is about the completely missing resistor network and caps and whether there is a valid reason for them to have been removed and whether I should replace them.

You won't hurt anything by running without the completely missing resistor network and caps, so I would try without and if the things associated with those lines (controls?) do not work correctly, populate the parts and hope that fixes the issue(s).

I do not know the answer to "whether there is a valid reason for them to have been removed". Someone could have needed the parts for another board, someone could have been trying to fix a problem with that board, maybe there was a service bulletin to remove the parts, etc.
