I can just faintly see the game playing . Tried all the adjustments and seems to adjust the hold and brightness works up and down but incredible faint picture. Has the 20in. Black and white motorola.

Also have a Gun fight that I have seen the monitor work in till power supply went south.
Thinking try that monitor as they appear to be the same and if the super dim spint 2 monitor was just because the tube was no good.

Before going down rabbit holes and swapping hardware, check the gun emissions of the tube using a CRT tester. If the tube is high hour with very poor emissions, you can try a clean/balance to give it a love tap (wake it up). It's a very easy, non-invasive thing to check and simply requires the correct neck socket, which is usually a CR-6 for most black and white tubes.

If emissions are in the green and the image is still poor, then you need to move on to other parts of the circuit like the brightness and contrast controls. Recapping monitors of this age is always recommended but this will probably not do much for the brightness. You'll need to look at those circuits for out of spec or open resistors, etc.

I agree with what you said, but not everyone has the tool to rejuvenate a tube, so a cap kit is always a good place to start.

That, and removing the bezel and cleaning the tube face - I've run into some that had 1/4" inch of dust on them.

Thanks, I just slid my gun fight back to back and hooked the connector up and it looks great on that monitor. Brightness control appears to work on the sprint 2 .

Guess no harm in the rejuvenator. See if I have an adapter.

Yep did that already.

Guess this will be first time trying this bad Oscar out.

Yep, just go slow and follow the directions. I use the B&K so I'm not familiar with the Sencore controls, but they all generally work the same. You'll feel like a mad scientist using it the first couple of times, but it is a very useful diagnostics tool.

Remember, if the tube emissions don't improve after one clean/balance cycle (I guess they call it restore?) followed by one rejuvenation cycle (if needed), then odds are the tube is past its useful life.

Thanks for the tips.

I've had good luck reviving several Black and White CRT's with an old Heathkit CRT Tester. It has cleared shorts in a few and saved several monitors.

Don't give up until you try it.
Not at all! I had back burner these two games and today got to thinking I never tried my Gun Fight monitor which I saw was good till the power supply went south.

Cool thing is you don't even have to pull monitors to test just slid em back to back and boom ! Sprint 2 playing on my Gun Fight cab with yellow overlay kinda cool!
