It has a small monitor problem that only happens during warm up, a bad opto board for player 2, and not-so-great side art, but otherwise it's quite a sweet machine. It ties Sea Wolf as the oldest game in my collection. I used to have a Champ Sprint, but I prefer his "older brother".

Anyone know if there has ever been any side art reproduction efforts? Getting a screened project going would be awesome but I'd settle for inkjet if I had to.

Special thanks to Charger for talking his brother into selling this to me!

Congratulations for picking up one of the best racing games ever made! You and your family will have a lot of fun with that one.
As far as I know, no efforts have ever been made to recreate the sideart for Sprint 2. There's probably quite a few cabinets out there that could benefit from that project. The side art would make an awesome poster as well.

Yes, the trick will be to help them look past the initial difficulty of the game, and to realize that the difficulty is also what makes the game so fun. Once you get the basic technique down it starts to really get fun as you strive to get out of the "granny" category and slowly work your ranking up. I'm a "rookie" at the moment, with a top score of 134. I wonder what it takes to be ranked "pro"?

Few B&Ws present as well as that one does. Looks like a centerpiece in any collection. Jealous.

Man, I'm horrible at Sprint 2 (but then I've only played a couple games at the NW show.

Congrats on the pick up... I'm amazed you still have room for more games in your garage.

Surely you have to be close to running out of space downstairs now (I'm assuming you're not hauling that beast upstairs).

Everyone is horrible at it at first. It's a very difficult game. But it doesn't take long to develop the basic skill that opens the door to great fun.

I am pretty much maxed out. The spot where it sits now is in a relatively open area near the stairs. I liked having that area open for good traffic flow so I'm not sure if I'll be happy with this. I'll probably be playing with sketchup to see if there is any improvement I can make. But with yet another cab coming this weekend (new mame cab - I'm almost done deconverting my old mame cab back to centipede), I can't imagine I'll be able to avoid booting out a game. If you recall the carport on the left side of the building, that has been enclosed to turn it into shop space. So now I have overflow space if I decide not to sell games that have been booted out.

Was that the one for sale near Sacramento? I nearly looked at that one. Love me the old school games! Anyone have a Spike or Rebound they want to sell?!!!

I only know of one complete Spike around and it's definitely NFS. There are a few Rebounds around, tho.

Love Sprint2, btw. Nice pickup. Bummed that I sold mine, but I had to clear up space. Kept my Drag Race and Crash N Score, figuring they'd be harder to source down the road.

Thanks guys!

Answered my own question last night. I was in a groove and achieved the "pro" ranking at 150 points. It seems like I'm developing finer control now, so I'm much better at avoiding collisions with other cars.

And I think I figured out a layout that will restore some of the roominess near the base of the stairs that is important for good traffic flow in the game room. :)

There is not a better looking cabinet made in my opinion. Great to see another Sprint 2 machine getting some love and being enjoyed....

If you can't find reasonable scans of side art, the sides on mine are nearly perfect. One of the local guys has a high quality hand scanner he's threatened to bring over for other purposes.

That would be cool! I should talk to Rich about this before asking you to go to any trouble though. Thanks!

Got the player 2 optical board fixed tonight. Now we can play 2 player games! :)
