Spraying or paint roller

probably more posts on this subject than most.. search a bit and you'll get the info you seek.

How many guys take the time to spray their cabs.
does spraying make the diff or does just paint and a roller do the trick.

google - I used a roller to paint my 69 charger

I'm dying to use this method on a cab, but I haven't had the time and now the weather is working against me.

I'm using a 1 inch roller for the cab I'm working on now, and it works great. It helps that you keep the roller wet, instead of rolling all the paint out before you dip it back in the tray.

I usually opt for a roller as I feel it gives me more control while painting. Patience and lots of coats are key. Always let the paint fully dry before applying another coat or you will end up getting frustrated.

Do you guys use latex or oil paint. Oil goes on so much smoother than latex.
I know there some additives u can use to make it flow better.
What about sheen. Semi gloss I guess.

I agree with everything but the 'lots of coats' statement. 2-3 coats should be plenty when rolling. Anymore than that, and the orange peel texture becomes grotesquely amplified.

I do both...

I find rolling really fills in the little flaws , scratches, etc... then spraying the top coat gives it the fine smooth texture.. spraying over scratches, flaws, etc just brings them out more

you can roll your primer and spray the paint...

Latex can come out very nice.. Oil seems to 'flow' together a bit nicer and gives a nice coat too...

I use both, often latex color.. and oil based black for the other areas...

I have always sprayed wherever possible.. only on rare occasion have I used a roller. If you are just not set up to spray then you can get passable results rolling. Spraying is really the only way to truly avoid any kind of texture on the cabinet.

Same here. I spray all of my cabs

I've had absolutely no issues with a foam roller. The finish is always great.
Though now that I have a compressor a sprayer is tempting.

Everyone thinks the roller finish is great, UNTIL they spray one :)
