I just recently picked up a nice KI cab. There are a couple places where there is black spray paint. Whoever converted it covered the words "Killer Instinct" at the bottom and the red letters "KI" at the top. Spinal, the midway and rare logos are all visible. Weird. I want to remove this with damaging the grpahics. I have found many MK's, NBA Jam's and KI's rescued from under a layer of latex paint, but no amount of searching could narrow this to spray paint. I need a product that will not damage this otherwise awesome side art.

Products I have seen mentioned with good latex removal results:
Citristrip
Goof Off
Lift Off
3M Safest

If anyone has first hand experience removing spray paint from a midway 90's cab, that would be great. Thanks for any suggestions.

denatured alcohol or acetone will prolly work, be careful tho and do a test area first. it shouldn't harm the vinyl graphics but the acetone will definitely take the paint off the front (coin door panel) or back/top (un vinyl'd). atleast it did on many peoples MK1 cabs and did on the top of my spider-man (no damage to the spiderman tho that couldn't be easily fixed). this is why i say do a test spot :D

Well, I tried citristrip. I already had some at the house. I tried goo gone first, but it was really slow going. Citristrip says to let it sit for 30 minutes, but the black spray paint started coming off as I was applying the stuff. Took about 30 minutes to do the 2 areas of one side including cleanup. Doing the other side today. Thanks for the tips. I was afraid to use citristrip because it is the reason I needed a Xevious marquee.

I like Goof Off...go easy and beware its kinda hot!...but if you get on and off quick it will lift the paint and not mess with the finish under it...then a little warm water and a Eraser works good. good luck its like dancing with the devil sometimes.
