My sportstation will play forever if someone is actually playing it. If I let it idle and come back in 15min, the screen is blank, no coin-ups. Ideas? PCB lights are still on and looks to be running fine. Video is not hot.

Thanks,
Kevin

Get into the ops menu and run the diagnostics on the hard drive for kicks and grins. If the game works when being played and F's up when it's idle then it's happening in the attract mode. This would be accessing another portion of that CHD that isn't utilized during game play.

Maybe use CHDMAN to also check the integrity of that CHD - I wouldn;t trust the guy you got it from ;)

I'm using mame roms/chd. HD was my suspicion too. I can still hear the drive powered up. I also stayed and watch it go thru demo for 2-3x then walk away.. come back.. and there is the blank screen. I am putting in CF today instead the HD. I just find it funny that if I stand around watching it in demo.. nothing happens until I leave, lol :)

maybe there is a screen saver setting some place. LOL :D

it is a hard drive failure. mine used to do the same thing. when left alone for a while it would die. the monitor was blank but powered up. buy a cf adapter and a 4gb cf card and burn the chd image to the cf card. this will significantly decrease you boot up time and your game will be quieter and the heat will be less on the inside. i have attached a picture of my cf adapter on the vegas boardset.

I use CF in all HD games. I just use the real hd till I get the game working. I guess I should put the CF in now and quit crying about the imaginery ghost :)

I installed CF this morning.. now it reboots when you get to game start on nfl and nba. In demo, it reboots when demo gets to gameplay (nba and nfl). I ran file system check and everything else.. all passes.

Bah that sucks. I have to admit I was also having the same issues using a CF. The CHD on a normal drive was fine but the CF would do exactly as you are describing. Good CHD and the CF won;t work correctly. DAMNIT!!! I assumed it had something to do with the CF adapter and CF card comptibility issue. Did you by chance by the CF adapter from the person wthat was selling a few awhile back? Using a Sandisk Extreme (2 or 3) don't remember.

@MATTWOOKIE - Sportstation 3.0 CHD won't even fit on an 8 gig CF. ;) Logical size is WAY bigger than the physical size.

Using direct connect CF adapter (no ide cable needed) and generic 8gb cf. This exact setup works perfect on the seattle pcb (proper chd). WTF makes vegas different?
