Spongebob Squarepants arcade game. custom job. Updated

Alright, admit it. If you were a kid again you'd want you're own arcade game.
Well, my daughter just turned two, and has shown a strong interest in playing the arcade games in the garage with me. She's way too young (and short) to play these machines with ease. So what did I do? You guessed it. Princess gets her own arcade machine. She was pretty happy to find this machine today in the garage waiting for her. Pretty cheap and fun project for the kids who might be a little too young to play some other titles.

OK, the details:

-Main CPU is one of those POS Jaxx plug and play games (includes four different games on one board).

-13" sanyo TV was stripped from its case and custom mounted into the cab. Speaker was rewired into the upper speaker area.

-Oh yeah, the cab. Custom dimensions and style. Modeled after a Pac cab, but mixed in a little dynamo near the bezel angles. All wood was cut, drilled, glued, and routed as a normal cab.

-Happ 4-way joystick. Happ comp. pushbuttons. Extra CPO which fit the theme. 3/4" T-molding. Actual marquee holder taken from a gutted Outrun and cut/ painted for cab.

-Custom marquee graphic on Inkjet. Hail to the Cheap King, baby!

Anyways, blah, blah, blah. Long story short. I killed myself over the last two weeks trying to get this thing together in time for the B-day party today. I thought I'd share it with you guys to see what you think. Here's a couple pics:

Applying some sideart. Notice how small the cab is. I'm six foot tall. Perfect size for her though.

Here's the video of the cabinet if you want a more in depth look at it:

I got a couple young twin girls that are just under the age of 2. I'm planning to do something similar next summer when they are a year older. That is badass man.. Seeing a post like this makes me want to start the project sooner.

How difficult was it, hooking up one of those Jaxx plug and play games to the new control panel???
That looks like a "real" joystick in the CP, not one of those plug and plays sticks.

Fantastic work! I am also wondering how hard it was to wire up the CP to the Jaxx box. Nice work, man. Looks great.

yeah, the controls on the panel are all legit. I had to crack open the little unit and solder new wires to the pad. Wasn't too hard. Very fragile stuff though. I made sure to secure all the wires from controller to barrier strips inside the cab.
I've had experience doing this before on the SNES cab I did and the XBOX driver thing.

There's a coin slot, but where do you get the coins out? Unless you've blocked the slot, things will get in there.

yeah, the mech is there just for looks right now. She has a kick for pushing the coin return. I figured it didn't need it, but it looked more authentic if I installed it.

Man that is awesome!!!! Kudos for going waaay above and beyond for your kids. I nominate you for KLOV dad of the year!

Nice, I might just try one of these :)

Just need a 13" Bezel... Spray paint it yellow..

Is there enough room?

Documentation?

I don't suppose you documented how you did this???? Maybe some pics of how you hacked the Jaxx game?

Instead of tearing a tv apart couldn't you have mounted a cheap flat panel in there??

Just curious, my daughter is turning 5 next month.... I wouldn't mind building her her very own arcade game.

Good Job!!!!!!!!!!
