Spongebob Squarepants arcade game. custom job. Updated
Alright, admit it. If you were a kid again you'd want you're own arcade game.
Well, my daughter just turned two, and has shown a strong interest in playing the arcade games in the garage with me. She's way too young (and short) to play these machines with ease. So what did I do? You guessed it. Princess gets her own arcade machine. She was pretty happy to find this machine today in the garage waiting for her. Pretty cheap and fun project for the kids who might be a little too young to play some other titles.
OK, the details:
-Main CPU is one of those POS Jaxx plug and play games (includes four different games on one board).
-13" sanyo TV was stripped from its case and custom mounted into the cab. Speaker was rewired into the upper speaker area.
-Oh yeah, the cab. Custom dimensions and style. Modeled after a Pac cab, but mixed in a little dynamo near the bezel angles. All wood was cut, drilled, glued, and routed as a normal cab.
-Happ 4-way joystick. Happ comp. pushbuttons. Extra CPO which fit the theme. 3/4" T-molding. Actual marquee holder taken from a gutted Outrun and cut/ painted for cab.
-Custom marquee graphic on Inkjet. Hail to the Cheap King, baby!
Anyways, blah, blah, blah. Long story short. I killed myself over the last two weeks trying to get this thing together in time for the B-day party today. I thought I'd share it with you guys to see what you think. Here's a couple pics:
The happy camper playing gaurd duty on her machine.
Cousin trying to play.
Applying some sideart. Notice how small the cab is. I'm six foot tall. Perfect size for her though.
Here's the video of the cabinet if you want a more in depth look at it:
