Well I recently found a Splatterhouse board, and when I tested it, it booted up to this display and won't go any further:

EEPROM Error 0200

Does this mean one of my chips has gone bad, and if so, can anyone tell me which chip on the board has to be replaced? I looked at the ROM structure here: http://www.solvalou.com/subpage/arcade_roms/S/splatter but none of those chips are labeled 0200...

Can anybody help???

EDIT - Oops! This is supposed to be in the General Repair Forum; can a mod please move it for me? Sorry...

You may not have a bad EEPROM , the code may simply indicate an error.
You may simply have corrupt data.
Try turning on dip sw #1 to see if you can get into test mode to see if there is any way to reset data.
Also you can try holding the service switch / test switch while you power it on, on some systems this resets data... not sure about this one.
Then again, your eeprom may indeed be bad, or something related to it.

It's probably the EEPROM which can be located at location U1 on the smaller board of the two. These can still be sourced, I have a few.

However, other problems can cause the same error, including a bad MCU - that's the large, 40-pin chip at location M4 on the larger board. These MCU chips are impossible to replace unless you salvage one from another Namco System 1 board, program up a blank 63701 or construct a replacment as documented at jrok.com -
