I would like to give a big shout-out to Wiz (Zach) for passing the opportunity to pick this game up on to me. This is a Spiders Cabaret and it looks to be dedicated but there are a few things I can't figure out. For instance why is there a 4 way joystick when you can only go left and right. The cabinet is really in amazing shape and with a few touch up's to the black base it will really look great. It has a 19" monitor in it which I thought was kinda cool for a cabaret. It also works a 100% and is really a cool game. It is kind of a cross between galaxian, centipede and missile command. Here are some pics before I clean it up and get it down to the gameroom.

Cool pics. Looks to be very similar to an Artic (ATW) mini but not quite the same. Yours looks like it has a 4 way Q-Bert joystick installed. Love the lock on the monitor glass/plexi!

Here was mine with bootleg "Frog" (ger) in it: Yours seems a bit taller though?

That was my 1st pick-up. I got mine from Warehouse of Games here in St. Louis when they were here for $50 back in about 98 (also gave me an empty uber converted Midway cab for free). The monitor was flakey, so I did a cap kit and found a cold solder joint and fixed it. Then had some ROM errors and cleaned that up and sold it about 3 years later. Mine didn't have a name at the marquee though. MAME still don't have that game working properly, it was too fast last time I tried and no sound.

There have been a few of those cabaret cabinets floating around the SoCal/L.A. area; one had Mr. Do! in it. Was tempted to grab it; if it had been Spiders, I would've jumped on it. Nice grab!

Nice pickup man. I was looking at that too and was thinking about it. So how many quarters were in it jamming up the coin slots?

Tough to classify this one. I think the true dedicated is probably the venture line white UR cabinet...but this game was licensed to a bunch of vendors, so I suppose whatever cab the licensee put the game into would also be dedicated. Any cabinet manufacturer marks?

Regardless a very cool little cab with some spiders artwork I hadn't seen before. Thanks for sharing.

Nice Mike, glad you are stoked on it. And you are right, it looks clean! If it makes people that were looking at it feel better, the seller raised the price with all the interest he got. Mike still got a good deal, but not as good as we had hoped. He said he had people offering him more, so you know how that goes. It looks like a great score at a good price. I am looking forward to playin that one at your place!

I didn't even look at the mechs yet but yeah he did say it was jammed up, I did pull about 3 bucks worth of quarters out of the bottom.

It is hard to tell because I haven't pulled the monitor to get inside yet, believe it or not there is no back door on this so you have to pull the whole monitor out to get to the boards. The bezel and control panel are all one piece hinged together. Once I get inside and take a look I will report back on any markings. However after doing some googleing I found out that they put this game into the same cabaret cabinet as space panic? Anyone have any other info on this. Is it a kit or dedicated?

Yeah it stinks that people bumped up the price but I still think I got a heck of a deal and can thank you for that. The gameroom is always open. Well it might be closed down for a bit starting March 7th :)

Bad-ass rare one you got Mike. I'll have to play that bad-boy next time I'm in town. You should get a Black Widow and place it next to your Spiders game. I know there was a make-shift BW cabaret on another thread.

Thanks Jim, Yeah I am not sure if its rare or not because I really can't find much info on it anywhere. Hopefully I will also have my 720 done when you get back into town also.

...

Ive owned several Spider minis. That particular one looks like its in either a bootleg cab or a poker machine type cab. Ill dig out my pictures, but the minis I owned (thanks to perf) had full sideart from top to bottom.
I actually sold the games to tuckey. Im sure he still has them.

Hey Mike got any pics of your gameroom basement?

Cool game I seen it going for 75.00 on CL a bit ago. Cab looks good

I cleaned it up and it's now in the gameroom which I should take some updated pictures of. There is an old post somewhere with pics but I have switched it around a lot since then. Hey if your ever going to be in the area or are planning a trip to Marvins let me know, I am only a mile away from there and you can stop in and see the gameroom in person.

I really would like to know more about this cab because when I opened it up it looked brand new inside, no hacked wires and a clean harness. Do you have any pics of your old Spiders Mini?

I did find 14 quarters jammed in one coin slot which I didn't know was possible, almost half were early 1980's quarters and the counter was on 11,000ish plays.

Def have to do that after work, while I'm on this side of town. Love to see Tron and Karate Champ I miss that damn game. I knew I would. FULL POINT

I have both an upright and a cabaret spiders and neither have this style cabinet...however, notice the marquee does fit it well...but the 4 way joystick seems to indicate that this cabinet could have been used for a number of games that could be put into it...I do have a Mars dedicated in this very cabinet...it is possible the company made a few in this...(sigma), but the real proof would be a sigma sticker or plate on the back...the cabaret and the upright I have have these....
this really is a fun game though...and worth cleaning up and keeping in this little cabinet! Todd
