yay, good luck to all who go! since the CoC has been funded, have a craft beer or two on me! i wish i could be there, but i'm trying to see if grinker's is a possibility!!!

I'm gonna be pissed when I hear the T-Mek proto is in the tournament and I can't be there :(

This was my first tournament and I had a blast! Had to leave in the middle for a family event in the area but spent some time playing each game in the tournament. If it wasn't for the tournament, I wouldn't have played many of these games. I especially enjoyed discovering Teeter Torture, Chicken Shift and Razzmatazz. Was able to continue the fun with Chicken Shift on Mame upon returning home. A big thanks to all the organizers (Gack, 34k, AO crew) and I have tons of gratitude for the folks that bring their games - it's hard work and I appreciate what you do. Also a big thanks to Clint - that guy is a machine. Thanks for recording my shitty scores without judgement lol.

If you thought that was fun....Just wait until the Grinkers event! It's a blast!

Watched Robbie roll over the score Razzmatazz on only his 3rd game, it's crazy how quick he picked up on it.

I heard about this. And the Player 1 roller was not working very well either. The Player 2 roller was perfect.

Oddly enough, either spinner works in player 1 mode. Robbie used the player 2 side spinner.

A guy beat Robbie's score on Sunday. From what I was told, it didn't really happen because the special man wasn't there to say so.

Might have to get a couple of games in before it's picked up :p

....I guess it just wasn't 'officially recorded' ;)

-it was the same story with Jimbo's Eyes attempt at Funspot (NASWA actually). Also same story on Teeter Torture, others (including my son) beat scores that were recorded during tournament. That's part of the fun with doing it 'live' during tourney I suppose...

....and I honestly don't know if aurcade takes video submissions, never really looked into that.

Yeah I get it. Just feel bad for the guy as it seemed important to him. Curiously though, Clint didn't verify the PCB or dipswitch settings on Razzmatazz or I assume any of the other games. Because of this I would take Aurcade scores with a grain of salt. I could have had MAME running in my cabinets and he wouldn't have known otherwise.

I'll stick to Twin Galaxies.

I'd venture a guess that it had to do with it being part of the protohype tournament. I'm not sure Clint even had settings to go off of. He did go through and take pictures of my Eyes PCB before I went for my record attempt.

Coincidentally, I've heard similar things about Twin Galaxies and taking their scores with a grain of salt. I imagine it's a very tough business to be in, maintaining some sense of integrity while also pleasing all of the players.

I would definitely be weary of some of the earlier scores on Twin Galaxies but the way it is set up now is solid. One continuous video starting with coverage of the PCB/Dip switches, power on, score achievement. Then you submit your video with whatever dip switch settings that you played under. The community watches the video and either confirms its valid or raises questions.

I would assume that Aurcade has some sort of video submission process but I haven't looked into it. Surely they don't only accept scores that are "verified" by their ref if he's not checking the board settings and obviously more high scores are achieved on home machines than public these days. Then again, it's their scoreboard and they can do it however they please. As of now, Twin Galaxies is more legit in my book.

This was my first arcade game tournament ever, I had a lot of fun - I severely disliked Chicken Shift, cursing it quite a few times as Chicken Sh*t. Part of it reminded me of an old hand held Masudaya lcd game called 'Oil Pipe Line' where your character runs around directing pulses of oil with a section of pipe. http://www.retrogames.co.uk/039706/Handheld/Oil-Pipe-Line-by-Masudaya-Play-Time

Tail Gunner cockpit was my favorite of the vectors. Teeter Torture was my favorite of the rarified rasters, I also liked Turkey Shoot and the Eeeeeeek! games.

Thanks for running the tourney, it was a great experience.

Just wondering if there is a show tonight? Do I need to stock up on more bud light?

Arcade Hangout?

I think next Tuesday is the plan there....

Arcade Outsiders?

I believe Johnny is out of town on business this week, not sure when they plan on next podcast....

:)
