2 questions:

1. What game did you love in the 80's that you now think is lame or didn't stand the test of time?

2. What game did you not appreciate/play in the 80's and now love?

For me:
1. Kangaroo. I think I only liked it then cause it was easy. That's why I don't like it now.

2. Baby Pacman. Probably because by owning one I can now take the time to actually learn it without blowing my lunch money.

1. Bad Dudes used to be so cool when I was a kid. Damn unplayable now for me.

2. Defender I used to think was boring, but now I think is almost the single defining game for graphics, sound, and artwork for the era. Wish I had one.

My phone screwed up and double posted.

Balls. Turds. Alfalfa sprouts.

Bad Dudes

Check that - I think Bad Dudes is much worse then Kangaroo. I must have mentally blocked that out when I made up the post!

I also have a better appreciation for Williams Bubbles now. It's kind of like Robotron minus the shooting.

1:
Xevious - I loved that game in the arcade. It may be the 60n1 implementation, but I don't think so. I played it on the Namco Classics board and it is not as fun as I remember it.

2:
Star Wars - Now that I have one (and I am not throwing quarters at it) I don't mind a short game. I just fire it right back up.
Tempest - Same thing.

Kangaroo. I remember liking it bitd, but now it just seems shoddy.

(To a certain extent) DKjr. I own one, and I like owning it, but I don't really enjoy playing it. I thought it was way-cool bitd.

2.
I don't really remember not liking any specific games. For example, I sucked at Defender, so I rarely played it. But I still thought it was a cool game.
