Spaeth SW/ESB kit - interest thread

I may take one.. that $250 though, Hard to cough up. I may take my chances and wait it out for a Dedicated Empire Strikes Back PCB... If there are any left to find.

EDIT: Yes I'm interested.

I have a close friend with a Star Wars cabinet that would probably be interested in this kit. However, he is not a person who works on arcade games (Star Wars is the one and only cabinet he has ever owned). So my question is, what is involved with this installation of this kit? Is it plug and play, or does it require soldering/modifying the original boards?

Thanks.. and sorry if this is a question that has been covered previously.

The $250 came from Mark's post in a different thread for someone selling a Cowgill kit. At $250 a pop, Mark *may* be more motivated towards digging up the ones that he has in storage that still need to be tested. I think (based on his own parts spreadsheet) he was selling the kits previously for $200. Basic supply and demand principles at work... He holds the supply and if the demand is significant enough, he can charge what the market would bare.

I have a dedicated esb pcb. I would want to sell it as a kit.. with NOS yoke and NOS marquee. (not repro stuff)

Ditto for me - I would definitely take one if that is the price shipped. I have been wanting one for a while now. I have told him in the past I would take one if he got around to doing more, but it's been a while.

First, this is not a commitment from Mark to do anything. Though if he sees the strong interest for the kit at this price point, he may garner enough motivation to do something about it (again, Mark has not committed to any of this - I'm am just going off one of his thread appends).

Second, I have no ability or desire to speak for Mark so I can't say whether his stated comment on price would include or not include shipping. At $250, would an extra $10 or so really preclude your purchase? Let's see if Mark will speak up on this??

Thanks for the interest!

Regardless of this thread, he's stated that he already has more people wanting them than the unfinished kits he has. We can all post away, but I don't know that it will matter to him.

This one seems like a no-brainer as far as ability to sell the product. Not that there's a huge market..still quite a niche. I'd buy one eventually, but there are too many other things I want/need before that.

I guess it comes down to, how much work/time does a one-guy operation want to put out to make the return? Would be different if a machine cranked them out and they were ready to ship. Wouldn't it be more profitable for him, in terms of time spent/money gained, if he sold something like this as a kit? Of course you'd have people f'ckn it up and needing support, so that's probably not worth it, even if sold as at-your-own-risk.

I would be down for one, but would rather pay the $200 that he was offering them for before. It sounds like there are plenty of people to buy them and hopefully the money is good enough on each one that Mark would be motivated to crank them out.

I have Mark's kit and while I don't play ESB as much as SW I encourage everyone with a SW to install the kit. It's like having another game in your game room.

Looks like plenty of interest even at a $250.00 price point.

How about it Mark? Will this provide some motivation to finish the kits you have (at least sooner, then later)? You should have no problem selling the ten you have stashed away in storage. Thanks!
