Guys looking at a space war by vector beam. Partially working game monitor appears to by working fine. Cabinet looks decent what's a fair price and does it have much replay value.
I searched the forums but not much to be found on value. Thanks Tony

We have the Cinematronics model from 1977 here at the Underground - it's a regular favorite once people are introduced to it and invest enough time to understand the intricacies of the gameplay. Downside is that you must have 2 people to play.

2 people to play, unlimited replay value. When I had one in my old gameroom it was my third most popular vid (after my Neo Geo candy and Roadblasters).

Vectorbeam space wars fully working is probably a $2k+ game. So, I would say fair offer would be about $1k in not fully working shape.

Really? I wish the people bidding on my old one knew that. I don't recall exactly what I got, but it was less than $1000, fully working with the monitor having been gone over.

It was Vectorbeam. A solid 8 out of 10. It had a little lower cab water damage when I picked it up, but I peeled up the vinyl, patched the wood and glued it back down and you could never tell.

This was like 6 or 7 years ago though. The pricing on them may have severely increased since then.

Yeah...there's no way one would sell for that kind of money in KY, either.

I paid 60.00 for mine.... but that was in 1982...

wow, I've had mine for 30 years, is that a record?

That's pretty impressive. You must be planning on being buried in it. :)

I paid $700 for mine and shipped it from Wisconsin. Mine was dead. This was about 6 months ago.

I have never seen one on the west coast other than the one ken takes to CAX.

I would love to pass my cinematornics one off to get a vectorbeam one...

I Saved this from a non collectors garage today. Totally complete and in pretty decent shape cabinet is good not great but ok. Monitor comes right up images are not quite right but the ships and I believe all the back ground items are there. Marquee and lower control panel art look really nice. I will try to reseat chips and ribbon cables tomorrow and of course post some pics. If anybody wants this pm me it's not a keeper for me just didn't want something so rare to just rot.
Thanks for all the info

Tony, Space Was is not a 1000 or 2000 dollar game. That is way way overinflated price to pay and something i would expect a full retail shop to suggest. This game doesnt get alot of money because of two reasons. One, because it takes some space up and two you have to play this game with two people. This is mainly what limits its collectable value in the market. I would say a fair market value price today would be between 200-400 dollar range.

I'm not sure what I might pay for an 8/10 Lunar Lander. I'm not sure I want to know.

If I came across a beautiful Space War I well could get stupid.

Not Lunar Lander stupid but... pretty dumb.

$200 to $400 for that title working is not realistic. The fact that it requires two people to play really has nothing to do with it otherwise Warrior would also be affected. The game is not huge either. It is a bit wider that a cab with 25" monitor. This is however a game with a smaller amount of collectors looking for it to complete a vectorbeam lineup or whatever. I know Billtronix had someone offer $5000 for his NIB one and he turned it down. Fully working in real nice shape in my opinion $1000 in this economy.

Again, I paid $700 for mine and then added shipping on top to get mine non working. I paid good money for the right game, others will to.

I would agree with this.....though....I'd go with a curve of $850-$1000.....and in really nice condition.

Broken......$400-$500......that's not to say.....someone doesn't come along who REALLY wants it.....and ponies up more $$$.

That's crazy! Is that the first game you bought? Why didn't you pick up Speed Freak and Barrier at the same time :)
