I have several Space wars cabinets and parts and was thinking with the new artwork available for the Vectorbeam Space War cabinet, I might just take all the parts from one of my severely water damaged Cinematronic cabinets and stick them into a reproduction cabinet and make my own. It would be smaller and also easier to move into my game room. Can anyone confirm that the control panels are the same or not?

I would need to have a new marquee made but I believe Rikitiki is making one off marquees. IN the interim I could just make my own.

Barring that, I may just make my own Custom Space Wars cab as these things are just plain monstrosities.

I have the Vectorbeam Space War
I am not sure if the control panels are the same but the Space War marquee is metal and it has a lighted panel under the control panel in the front.
If you go with the Vectorbeam Space War cabinet I have an extra lower light panel but I don't have an extra marquee.

Google sketchup will give you the answer in about 24 hours. I have the cinematronics done in model form now, and will be measuring and modeling vectorbeam today.

Sorry to tell you. But they are different. Cinematronics cp width =31.5, Vectorbeam =29.5.

Also many other differences. I'll upload the pics for you tonight.

Here ya go.

Pic one is the VectorBeam control panel. 29.5" long

Pic two is Cinematronics. 31.5"

The Vectorbeam curves to wrap around the front face. It also screws down into place.

Just dug up this old thread as I had not gotten back to it. Thanks for all of the responses. Hopefully I can make one as nice as Phet's instead of going the custom route of making my own cabinet. Guess I have room for one monstrosity in the game room.
