Space Shuttle playfields!

I've really got to find a way to get access to that other than through google groups.

They are fantastically horrible about updating their website, and I don't trust a newsgroup reader for the iphone...

*edit* That's CRAZY the amount of trouble they've had with these... sad. Thank god they're a company that lives up to their rep and has the ability to fix all that!

You can use www.rgparchive.com

I'm kind of bummed by the timeframe of this. Space Shuttle is the next pin I'm going to buy, Pinbot is the game I'm currently restoring. It looks like Pinbot is the next playfield to be released.

If I buy the Space Shuttle playfield (if there are even spares available) in anticipation of getting a machine, I am going to have to grind to get the funds back up to get the Pinbot playfield when its released. It also runs headlong into the timeframe of the York pinball show. Something has to give!

They keep pushing it back, but when I originally contacted them they said they were overruning them due to expected demand for them. Makes you wonder how many they will have extras, and how many will get sold as "seconds"...

I would pick up a second with minor flaws for a good price, just as a backup, though frankly, I'm more worried about the electronics crapping the bed and not being replaceable before the home use playfield that will be taken care of going rotten.

I'm in the opposite boat, they closed the Pinbot preorders and now I'm wondering if I could still sign up..lol. :|

I'm thinking they have to wind up with extras. One of the guys in the thread SilverUnicorn referenced worked on the art and said it was done in 2008... Have to figure that a few of the people that said they were interested in the repro playfield at that time have either restored/found clean playfields or sold machines altogether.

I'm hoping they have Space Shuttle spares left over, or some are available for a reasonable price when I'm ready. There seems to be a huge amount of interest in this one though, I guess because it was such a popular game and you see so many of them with trashed playfields.

cool man... i bet they are not frockin cheap.. what a neat machine, i can see why the cost is so high on thier playfields, thats a TON of work that goes into getting to that point plus that silk screening machine has got to be insane $$$

Yea, if you google for Ed Chung Space Shuttle you'll hit his site and he talks about how he did it. Apparently he did a few Mylar overlays before the repros were on the horizon. Neat stuff.

Even though I don't have the pin yet, I will be getting one of these. They look awesome.

sooooooooo, how much are these things gonna sell for? and where does one buy one?

599$ + shipping is what the preorder price was.

Sicne they've completely removed it from preorder page I doubt they're letting people still hop on the "list"...may have to wait until they get first run sent out and then order what's left from their site.

And here's where I'm at with my current playfield... old on the left, current on the right..

thanks for the price.

i soooooooo want a space shuttle....one of the few pre-DMD games that is on my "must" list. i fell in love with it on the williams pinball collection on the 360.

but it seems like every one i've seen is trashed about like yours is (was). with these playfields somewhat available now, it makes taking a chance on a trashed space shuttle a little more worthwhile....especially if it's gonna be a keeper machine for you.

Mine's still trashed, playfield wise, but I tend to ignore it because I know there's a new playfield coming, and there is very little wrong with it, electronically.

And I swear to god, those LEDs aren't that bright and washed out.. I hate digital cameras!!! :(

Also, SS is WAY more fun in person than on the Williams game. Have you noticed the "flashers" on the xbox/ps3 just don't have that same punch? That's a game where it takes away from it big-time, IMO. Getting those 9 flasher bulbs right in the face is almost like getting hit by a dazzler, lol.

i've seen one in person, but to be honest i have only played it virtually. i know where one is right now (with a trashed playfield), but i'm not sure it's one i'd be able to buy. at least not right now.

besides, i still owe a little bit on my BSD. :)

Good to see this finally get on the line. I've been on the preorder list since the beginning.
