Hi all, nice to meet you. First post and i'm after some help/info, so please go easy on me!:)

I recently aquired a Midway Bally upright which powered up, but did not work. A quick adjustment to the pots +5v/-5v/+12v got some voltages to the appropriate places and the machine is running ok'ish. So two questions!

1. There is a loud annoying hum coming from the speaker. Game sounds are ok, apart from a sort of squeeling noise when the fire button is pushed?

2. On the start up screen, it states that the game is Super Invaders Zenitone Microsec Ltd (level 2 onwards, some invaders split in two).

The motherboard is labelled M051-00739-A008 and Midway MFG is imprinted on the board.

The daughter board which plugs into the main board in an L shape) has Midway MFG imprinted on it and A080-90700-C739.

I cannot find hardly any info on this, anybody out there any ideas??

Many thanks in advance.

Norbert Colon.

I'm no expert, but the c739 sound board supports only one player, both of your boards are space invaders boards. The game you have on there must be a rom swap.I would imagine you can use all the resources out there for troubleshooting a space invaders to fix your hum.I was missing the base explosion sound and had a hum,i replaced the lm3900's at k3,k4 and k5 which gave me my sound back and took care of the hum.If you dont like the game on your board you may want to try the multi kit, you'll get 8 games and a nice diagnostic feature. http://www.arcadeshop.com/si-kit/si-kit.htm .Good luck on your project,i'm sure some of the more experienced folks will chime in with better info.

Thanks Wrongdon. The Rom swap makes sense, as the green & orange screen overlay does not quite line up correctly with what i have on the screen!

The multikit looks good. Any one know if there is a source for them in the UK or will Braze ship to the UK.

Cheers.
