Ok, I've read thru just about every thread on here pertaining to SI garbled video issues. Here's where I'm at...

- Power board ran a working boardset fine in the same cabinet.
- Tried grounding the reset circuit anyways, no difference.
- Tried the slam switch test, it does reset the game when activated.
- It has no sound but I can see the board playing in the garbled video.
- Has a Braze MultiKit installed with known good CPU.
- Screen looks as if it has a double image.
- Missing clumps of hair from frustration...I've got 4 damn boardsets and this is the best I get!! UGH

Heres what the screen looks like...

Ok I removed all the ROMS and tried that test as in the instructions. I also replaced the CPU 40 pin socket with a new duel wipe. This is what I got which I believe means the RAM is ok?? When I hit the slam switch it makes the lines move up or down a few centimeters. After this test I plugged in the Braze Multi chip and basically got the same lines but would scroll across the screen every 3 seconds.

Just wasted another 2 hours fucking with this. Looks like a bon fire tonight!!

Let's not get too excited now. Have you tried kicking it as hard as you can?

Braise kit should be telling you whats wrong but looks to me like possibly bad ram AND maaaybe a monitor issue. Also If your using the braise kit make sure you pull the roms out.

Your no rom pattern looks good at first glance but if those lines are solid with pointed edges thats wrong. The lines should be thin and fat and perfectly square. It does appear the reset line is working ok.

Also check your voltages at the mainboard connector...pins 1, 3, and 5 and should ready 5v, 12v, and -5v (i think in that order but dont hold me to it...key thing is that theyre there).

Lasltly make sure your putting the kit/cpu on in the right direction!

Thanx Jeff, I'll double check these things.

That monitor looks pretty good to me.

Yeah I have two V1000's and both show the same picture. The one I've been using worked 100% when I borrowed a working board from fellow Klover smisch. I wish I still had that board to troubleshoot with.

Have you gone over ALL the rom sockets and made sure there are no cold/cracked/bad solder?

I only said monitor issue and emphasis on "maaaaaaaaaybe" because of the wierd look to the lines...it might not be bad at all especially if you did try another.

Replaced the CPU socket only, don't have to worry about the ROMS being I used a Braze chip.
Solder - Check

LOL, It's cool Jeff.

I would take the Braze kit off and verify that the board works with just the original ROMs.

Bumping this - I seem to have the same "double image problem with my Space Invaders board set. It's not the monitor, and it's not the Roms. The braze kit indicated a Bad Ram at location H9. I replaced that and still have the double image problem. Any other suggestions?

Are you still running the original power supply? Or is it changed to a switcher? My buddy was having all kinds of issues, I rebuilt his power supply and all is good. He is now running the Braze Kit.

I had a similar issue and it was actually my Braze kit that turned bad... but Scott's a champ and just fixed it and now the SI is running smooth.

So... for the original poster, it might be the kit? Just a thought.
