I'd really like to upgrade my Space Invaders with the Braze High Score Kit, but not entirely sure it'll work on my particular game? I have an original Space Invaders cabinet, with Space Invaders Deluxe board in the L-Shape configuation, but it's running Space Invaders II. It was like this when I bought it. To further add to the mystery there is a chip on the board that has a hand-written sticker that says "Space Invaders combo"? I can't seem to get it to play anything other than Space Invaders II. Any idea what chip this might be and do you think it'll be able to accept the Braze High Score kit?

Thanks for any input you might be able to give me!

I'm not sure which part of your description is making you question whether the kit would work. It sounds like a regular case of an SID board running in an original SI cabinet? The braze kit does work with both SI and SID boards

sounds like it should work. Although there is a space invaders II it sounds like you have a standard space invaders deluxe board which reads space invaders II on the title screen. The real space invaders II is a cocktail version only that in two player mode you play two players on the same screen head to head across from each other.

I also have a question. Does the HSS kit work with the taito 3 board stack or does Braze make one that does work with it??? I would like to upgrade my TrimLine if it is possible.

no the kit does not work with the taito boards and braze does not make a kit that works with them.

Thanks for the responses. I was pretty sure it would work, but the chip marked Space Invaders Combo had me worried that it might not be compatible.

Is the "mystery" chip a ROM? The Braze kit eliminates the need for the ROMs.

yes but you might have to get new spacers if it doesn't fit and you'll need to socket the CPU.
I have emailed with them dirrectly about it... I have a spare working socketed 3 stack board I can sell also.
