Hi All,

First a bit of background.

I'm not an arcade machine collector, and I've never restored anything before.

Space Invaders was the pinball in my Student's Union bar, and just thinking about it brings back the smoke filled, dim lit room, with sticky carpets, and Bohemian Rhapsody on the juke box.

A good few years ago one came up on eBay for £200, and in a wild moment I bought it. I put it away thinking I would start work on it soon, but I never did, too many other things to busy me.

A few weeks ago my 14yr old son had a few of his mates round, and they saw the pitiful machine, and thought it was cool !.

"When will it be working ?", they asked.

Now I'm asking myself the same question, but at least I've decided to make a start.

Every part needs attention; playfield, cabinet, electronics.

So I've decided to start with the playfield, is that right ?

There are some pictures here : http://www.doghouse.talktalk.net/spaceinv_20120822/

I've got an overlay on the way, courtesy of this forum - thanks. I'm hoping the forum will help me in my quest to relive my misspent youth, I haven't got a clue what to do !.

Cheers,

That SI is typical of almost every SI found here in the states. The playfields had the paint played right off of them. I too bought a SI to relive time from my misspent youth. It is a great pin that gets LOTS of play in my collection and when your done will get lots of play in yours. Luckily the overlays are being produced again and the rest of the parts are easy to find. If there is anything I can do to help you on your way just PM me or come back and ask your questions and I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions. Pinball collecting, welcome to the maddness/ obsession.
