Space Invaders Part II, Taito cocktail, works except video, $100/offers?

Just in time for a 30th anniversary, for sale is an original Space Invaders cocktail table, made by Taito in Japan. All of the game circuit boards are functional, but the video card (the "monitor chassis") blew up-- a cracked flyback transformer let out all its smoke. It might be easier to retrofit a small computer monitor, if you found one with three separate inputs for R G B.

YES, you saw that correctly! This game is a color version! The black and white screen with a transparent overlay was a great idea, but when you make a two-player game in a cocktail table format, the screen display flips 180 degrees to face the appropriate player, so a color overlay isn't effective. To the best of my knowledge, this generation is the first Color Space Invaders game. And last time I tried it (testing each color output RCA-plug one at a time), the game works! The coin slot has been modified for free play, so if you want to use it as a piggy bank you'd need to install a coin mechanism.

I have photocopies of the owner's manual, service manual, and many of the schematics, which are included with the unit.

Currently in northern FL. Could conceivably deliver, since I'll be heading to CA in the next couple of months and there's room in the moving van. Hate to see this little gem go. And I wish I'd discovered this forum sooner!

someone noticed Kermit in the background

:eek:How much is Kermit????
Well, I've been thinking about this for several days, wondering if I should let him go... and I guess I could.

My gut reaction was that a range of $40-50 feels about right, and coincidentally that matches FeeBay listings reasonably well. (The Kermit auction last week that gathered excited bidding all the way from $0.99 to $41 is for a doll more than a foot shorter than mine-- they came in several sizes. The larger one looks mighty fine sitting in a director's chair, for what that's worth.)

If I could get $40, I'd feel OK, and for the right person that would feel like a bargain. He is in really good shape, still has his tag, and his neck doesn't flop around like the Kermit dolls tend to do after they've been handled extensively. He's pretty much new. Let me know what you think.

PS. Sorry this isn't arcade-related, but it IS fair to acknowledge your question, even if I couldn't tell whether you're serious. Thanks!
