I didnt used to think I wanted one, but after seeing Nanoryans in person with the multikit installed, it got me thinking that I may need one.

SI is a huge part of video game history, the cab has a real classic and different look to it, and it is a cool looking visual effect with the half silvered mirror.

After reading Brent's tips on gameplay, the game seems even more interesting to me than before.

So, what would you rather have in your gameroom? Original or Deluxe?

I am leaning towards the original. I like the historical aspect of it, and I like the artwork on the front a bit better also. Or, are they all so similar, once you have the multi kit in them it shouldnt matter?

I had both at one point, but ended up selling the Deluxe. I really wanted to keep them both but they are very similar in the end, and space was an issue. But yeah, a multi-kit solves all those problems.

I have an SI with the multi kit. The artwork is classic, and I love the game too. the red cab on Deluxe is cool too, so I'd go with whicheve one is in nicer overall shape.

In my opinion, the SID has the better color scheme which helps it pop in a home arcade, but I think the backlit moon and bezel art is a bit better looking on the original.

I have an SID. It currently doesnt work, but sometimes I pretend it does. Pew..Pew...Pew..
I like the Deluxe cab better for some reason. I guess I dig the red cab.

I have an original and if i had both i would lean towards keep the orginal before the delux for sure. Without question SI is a classic with historic importance and for that reason alone i would want to walk into my game room and see the SI sitting there over the SID.

My 2 cents,

Braido...

I have had both but kept the Deluxe. It's the game I played as a kid in my grandma's bar which is now my bar. It's also the game that got me into this hobby. It really doesn't matter with the multikit, but the Deluxe has the color display or at least the B&W monitor with the color overlays to make it appear as color. I also prefer the overall look of the deluxe over the regular.

Re:

I had both, they really look great standing next to each other. But I think Deluxe is better gameplay. I sold both of mine acouple of years ago. Wish I didn't...

Since you're going to multi it anyway, gameplay isn't a factor since both games are included in the multi. Personally, I prefer the looks of the original Space Invaders over the deluxe version. The art looks nicer IMHO and I like the control panel better.

I am just finishing the restoration of an original SI w multi-kit. I think it's the better looking of the two, it's a piece of history and it's one of the few that the wife likes to play(oddly enough). It's almost like asking if you would rather have a Defender or a Stargate in your collection to me. I guess the logical answer would be to get both if you had the room...

Original SI for me. I'll be picking one up in 3 weeks as a matter of fact. The original multi-layered cab is what I remember the most. Can't beat the 3D effect either.

Ditto.
