I have a really good shape SID and I am currently restoring the cabinet. The monitor is a 19" amperex and the monitor chassis is a kv700a(or m5000 to my knowledge). My question is, there was no yoke attached to the monitor tube and the monitor looks like it may be fried. Notice the burned spot on the side of the screen. What monitor is compatible with this chassis? Could i just get a yoke and try this monitor? I believe once i figure this out, ill be well on my way to having a good running game. ANY help would be great! I recently found this forum and will be a frequent member and post plenty of great pics along the way as I am restoring my first game and many more. cheers!

Not sure what you mean by burn, unless your referring to the screen burn on the pic tube. If so thats nothing and a lot of the bw monitors have some kind of burn to them. Other than the missing yoke it looks like its in great shape!

Get a yoke and try it out!

cool, thx for reply. I found this yoke off of a horizontal 19" phillips monitor, can I use that w the kv700a/amperex? is that compatible? I'm just unsure of the compatability of all these different parts I have. I've been trying to gain the knowledge by doing much research, I just cant find much on the subject of "compatability" unless I ask myself. Any knowledge transfer is GREATLY appreciated! thanks so much!

PS-the amperex does look like its in pretty good shape, but by "burn" i meant the crescent looking shadow on the top half of the screen. That isnt a shadow. It looks like its been damaged or something but if thats ok, ill plan on reusing it seeing as it is the original that came with it. thx again!

Oh crap i didnt notice that...if its not dirt on the face, thats a good indicator the tube has been broken. Usually it happens in the center though....see if thats just dirt.

great help thx! yea, its not dirt :( big bummer. Is there a way I can change this working horizontal phillips to a vertical? oh wait. not sure if its color or not. Dont know much about it, dude just gave it to me. thx again.

HOLY CRAP! it was just dirt! it wiped right off!! I swore it was a burned spot. man, your advice + 409=awesome! now i just need a yoke!!
