What would it take to make it run in a Space Invaders cocktail, also Midway? The cabs look identical, but I don't know about the electronics...

i thought only the deluxe board was capable of running all the different invaders games?

or am i incorrect?

same as only the deluxe board or certain number/part board accepts the multi rom kit.i got the invaders deluxe here,i just cant be bother checking the part number but,i am pretty sure its got to be a certain board type to run other roms and the multi kit.

i just happen to have that board that is needed for different games and mutli board.
:)

Would it really need a different sound board if it's already a cocktail though? I think the difference is that its SI 2 is a two player/head-to-head game, so it would need a cocktail daughterboard that has two control panel plugs, correct?

i thought space invaders part 2 was colour? and that was the main difference from the first one?
:)

My SI Deluxe (Part II) is actually a black and white game with a color overlay film.
Some of the "Part II" flyers claim to have color monitors though.
I've never seen just a plain SI 2 personally.
All kinda confusing huh?

SI II needs to have a cocktail sound board for the 2P inputs... it also has an aux sound board and another speaker on the P2 side to output sounds for P2.

Taito shipped Si Part II games w/ color... a good percentage of taito 3-board si-style sets have the proms and additional circuitry to do color.

The flyer I have for Deluxe says "features a colorful flip-flop for 1 or 2 players" on the cocktail model. It also shows some of the special scoring on the other side, but I noticed a few errors. They must have changed a few things between making the flyer and releasing the game.

Just curious, besides the 2 chips on the DLX daughterboard, how the additional aux board connect?

Could someone take a DLX aux board, add the proper chips, connect an aux board and have this work?

Thanks for the help, guys. I'm not really looking to do a ROM swap though... a full board swap. Since I have the original SI boardset, will I need to pick up a SIDX aud. board?

Either which way you'll need to swap roms to have SI 2 unless you have a main board with the roms already on it. As far as what boards you'd need - you'd need an SI deluxe board with 2 extra chips populated (towards the right side - normally you just see empty pads), then you'd also need the SI2 aux board on top of the normal boardset for the extra sounds supposedly. My guess is you can get away with just an SID boardset and a rom swap if you don't care about the extra sounds.
