I have a Japanese 1979 Space Invaders II cocktail and the 2nd player controls wont fire and the ship moves to the far right on its own. ?I disconnected the Player 2 harness and it still moved on its own.

I've included pictures of soldering I saw on the board...have no idea if it affects 2p controls.

Do I need to replace this or is there something I can maybe do to get Player 2 to work?

Thanks!

Not so sure what board set you have but look at this for you specific board set.

http://www.classicgaming.cc/classics/spaceinvaders/techinfo.php

Some of the wiring I looked at had player controls coming from another connector; I think it was k. and check ALL connectors and make CERTAIN that they are not backwards.

EDIT:

The one I looked at was ttsi.zip from Mikesarcade.com and it is on the last page (25) of the pdf

ALSO NOTE:
Read note #2 at the bottom of this

All the lettered connectors have matching letters on the opposite cable so they are all fine. I disconnected the player 2 controls and it keeps doing the same thing...going to the right.

Im asking if its something on the board having to do with those 2 solders...or if i just need a new board.

Btw, thank you, that is the correct board and stuff...at least it looks like my board. :)

Them two solders don't look like the issue if that is the question. The 2nd just look like an additional ground and the first looks like it may just be the POR (power on reset).

EDIT:

From what I have read, it may be 1 pin off.

The game runs though...otherwise I wouldnt see the Player 2 ship fire and then move all the way to the right and stick..as i said, it does this even with the P2 control panel disconnected completely. Still have no idea what the problem is..but i did find the dip switches on the board...so tiny!!!

Without schematics it's kind of hard to give good advice on a board.

It did you switch player one and player two controls to verify it is the board and not the controls that are having the issue?

If you disconnect player one and it drifts in the same direction. drifting might be normal.

But something tells me it a pin that is being held down. so It always see that switch on and it won't do anything else on the player two side.

best guess advice. If you have a meter I would probe around player one and see if there pins are normally high or low on your inputs..

I would than take that info and look at player two.
they should match.

There might be a resister pack that is broken or input chip that has the issue.
If you can find the schematics I could give a little better advice..

Looks like you have Taito boards

odd dip 5 dip 6 dip 7 all control player 2 inputs..
There are 3 jumpers that connect player one to player two inputs.

So if i am reading this right right player 2 is normally high, if dip 5 is open 1c2 on chip 10 is floating. Which would account for the player 2 moving to the right all the time..

I cant figure out where those switches are on my board. Would you be able to circle them on a picture of the board for me?

Can you post pictures of all the boards?..

Hey question when you play two player game..

Does Player one and Player two take turns on the player one controller?
If this is the case you have jumpers to move.

Take a good picture of all three and Think I can point it out to you.

Its got separate controls of each side of the table. I couldnt plug the P2 controls into the P1 because the P1 has extra pins for the P1-P2 start buttons. I'll take pix of the boards in the morning and post them. I didnt think to do it earlier when I took it all apart. Thanks again!!

Here are the 3 boards. Let me know if you need closer pictures of any section. :)

Laughs, Great News! Funny how all the docs say that 4-7 have no effect on the game but reading the schematics tells a slightly different story.

Thanks to KB0JJN for pointing out the Website link
