I have both a SI and SI Deluxe. The SI acquired many years ago working but started getting blurring /bleeding monitor images. Never really figured it out back then (18 years) ago what was causing it. I had to move (military) and put it into long term storage to fight another day. Fast forward now and I am ready to get this back working, but I don't remember how it went to together (PCB wire harness connections and monitor chassis connections disonnected). Can I use my working SI Deluxe as an example? Can I also swap parts (PCB, power PCB, chassis, etc.) between the two cabinets to troubleshoot and isolate the SI problem(s)?

Great to hear your back, & thank you for the service :)
Yes, both the SI and SI deluxe boards are the same,
in the USA they still used the B&W monitors with the Deluxe model so no change,
power supply will be the same on both models..
the only differences are minor chip changes on the boards,
eg Deluxe uses a custom "shifter" chip , where SI has lots of single chips to do the shifter job.
Deluxe sounds are a little different, but still the same board.

clean the edge connector between the two "L" board connections, as this is a big problem spot

Alright, so I should be able to look at SI Deluxe to figure out how to reassemble the SI. I remember there are more pins on the PCB than positions on the connectors and wanted to make sure I didn't hook it up incorrectly.

Ok.. more pins than plugs,
this will be on an original up-right Space Invaders
the sound/shifter board on the original does not have headers for a 2nd player
you can down load both service manuals, to see where the player controls go,
the end of the sound board with audio chip , these headers / connectors are the same on both type of game

Took the SI board out and tested it in a working SI Deluxe cabinet. Did not boot pass the safe mode (multi game chip) on the first try so I rebooted and it came up fine and passed its tests. I am not getting any sound and cannot move the ship to the left. I remember I had the same problems when it was in the SI cabinet years ago and was not sure if it was a wire harness problem at the time. Looks like a PCB issue. I also have several round, brown caps that have broken legs…maybe contributing to the problems.

Who out there works these boards?

In the meantime while I find someone to fix the boards, I'm going to use the SI Deluxe PCB to put the SI cabinet back in order and get the monitor working…hopefully.
