I went to look at a non-working SI today. Price is right, but moving it out of the basement will be a hassle. Powers up, but shows garbage on the screen

How big a hassle do you think this will be to fix?

Not big at all. Send them to Alex at Elektron Forge. Your biggest roadblock will be his lack of communication before, during and after the repair. He'll get them working though. My SID looked just like that when I started. Well worth the effort. I think both SI and SID are sweet cabs and very worthy of restoration.

Most likely at least RAM... they're always bad. Buy the Multigame kit... it has good diagnostics, and the other games are kinda fun.

Yes. I was working on mine recently and got that screen. Caused by the pins backing out of the power supply connector. Got them back in properly and it powered up properly...
