So, today I fired up my SI with messed up sound board (no sounds at all) to play a game. Game would not boot at first. Checked +5v to the board, it was somehow draining down to 4.8 or so even though the +5 test point on the power supply was about 5.10. So, I figure my edge connector is shot and I need to replace it. In the meantime, I cranked the psu until I was getting 5.05 to the game board, which then booted fine. I played a game, and after killing the last invader on the first wave.. the game just.. continued. Never went to wave 2. An occasional UFO would still go across the top, and I could shoot it for points, but other than that, I guess I just..... won the game.
They gave up and went home.
Anyway, does that behavior sound consistent with cranking the PSU/having a crappy edge connector? Or does it seem like something else may be going on? I put in the test rom and all RAM checked out fine.
