Just wondering if I should pick up this space invaders cab I came across. It doesn't have a coin door and the seller has it listed as a space invaders deluxe (it has the bezel) but am I wrong in thinking it's in a space invaders cab?

Let me know your thoughts. http://db.tt/DC6suUVz

Either the bezel was swapped out with a SID being the original SI bezel broke or it has a SID game board in it also. Yes the cab is a SI.

Sounds likes it is the deluxe board but I haven't seen it in person so he may just assume because of the bezel, not sure.

If I could get it for $250, is it a good grab? And does anyone know of someone that might have the coin door?

Is it fully working? If so, with the coin door missing I would try talking him down a little bit. That's just me. Some of the other guys here might say grab it for $250 coin door or not. If it is NOT working then I wouldn't offer more than $125 personally because you're going to have the costs of having the board(s) fixed or replaced. Just my opinion

Coin door is easy to come by, $25ish for an average one. However that price is kind of MEH? $175-$200 working would be more solid since you need the door and there is some sort of board/bezel/cabinet mismatch going. $100 nonworking.

Daughterboard should tell you (in plain English right on it) whether its a normal SI or deluxe boardset. The larger board won't matter and usually isn't labeled.

Make sure all the other parts are there...the power supply pcb on the left (looking from the back)...power brick, the backdrop (curved plastic), and black light. Monitor chassis should be there right under the tube.

Try turning it on...as long as you get some kinda video (garbled, whatever) at least that tells you the monitor works. If you get a solid raster...that either means a monitor or power issue.

Make sure no wires are cut or plugs hacked off.

Should be fairly easy to find a Midway coin door, but the proper "gray" one may be a little harder to come by.

Thanks for all of the advice.

So I'm gathering that if everything works and checks out, $250 is an okay number but $175-200 would be a better grab?

I'll keep you posted. Thanks again.

So I ended up picking this up for $250. The cab is in great shape. Turns out that all of the pieces are SI but for some reason the bezel was swapped with a SID.

Moon, background and black light are all there and look great. The color overlay on the monitor isn't original SI but rather it's multicolored in a V formation.

Question on the bezel, I see some with a lighter blue and a darker blue? Why is that? Different runs, reproductions? Would appreciate your knowledge. Looking to grab a new one shortly.

I'll post some pictures later when I get a second. Thanks again for all the help, I had forgotten how truly addicting (and awesome) playing a space invaders cab is.

Probably a stupid question but will a galaxian coin door fit in my space invaders cab? Just curious if they are the same dimensions.

That's great, thanks for the info on that. I was able to pick one up (original gray) in good shape. Has all of the wiring, just no coin mechs. Any recommendations on the best place to grab some of those?

On the blue bezels : The light blue ones are probably the original Glass ones, and the dark blue ones are the plexiglass ones. Or vice-versa. Isn't really important unless you prefer one over the other. I just worked on a Space Invaders a couple days ago, and noticed the bezel was glass and looked lighter than they usually do.
