Space Invaders Deluxe went wonky when turned back on

We were gone for 2 days so we decided to turn off the machines. Came back, turned them on and now all I get is LOUD electrical humming sound and a blurred picture:

I turn the power off and on, unplugged and replugged all leads but it didn't help.

Also still can't get Mr. Do to work...

ANY HELP would be Appreciated!

I've heard the power supplies in these doing some SCARY shit. like +5 volt rails shooting up well past 6 volts and the like. I don't know how to check voltages on this, never bothered looking up a pinout for it lol... but you're probably going to want to inspect voltages.. I don't know if you can have the game unplugged with a linear power supply to check the voltages, just to prevent any potential damage..

another key area of interest is making sure every socketed chip is firmly inserted into sockets. chip creep happens...

hopefully someone else more knowledgeable about SID can chime in. I'd stray from powering the game on until you get some better suggestions though.

Space Invaders needs 5VDC, 12VDC, -5VDC, and a reset circuit (all originating at the power supply board) to boot.

Is the humming sound coming from the speaker?

Sounds very much like a power supply fault - such as a bad filter capacitor. Disconnect your game board, and power the machine back up. Is the humming noise gone? Check the voltages on your power supply - both on DC and on AC to check for ripple.

Absolutely fine to power a linear PS without a load. Check your +5v and get back to us :)

entirely what I thought. I just heard some crazy things about them lately, so I added that to the list of imaginary problems. :p
