So a day or two ago I start to move all of my Space Invaders Deluxe parts back into the cabinet. All of the pats were working when they were in the basement, but when I moved them into the cabinet, problems aroused.

The CRT seems to be scanning outside of the borders of the tube. Whenever the CRT is powered on for a while, I can hear a sort of popping noise and the screen start to flicker a bit. On one side of the tube near the gun some light can be seen (Is the beam hitting the side of the tube?). Before I had brought the CRT up, I clean out the chassis. I believe I might have accidentally changed the position on one of the pots on the chassis. Is there someone who knows which pot controls what on the CRT?

I don't think this is a cap problem from your description. It sounds like you have a short inside your tube. A quick check with a rejuvenator can identify any grounds.

Is the picture OK until the popping?

It's the arcing INSIDE the tube, our OUTSIDE?

If it's outside, did you reground the tube? There should be some metal "feathers" or a spring running from the frame of the chassis to the black/grey film on the back of the monitor.

If it's not grounded properly, the static buildup WILL look for a ground, and might have found it through the yoke area?...

Double check that.

Fixed the problem. So was decided to fiddle around with the anode wire, turns out that the cable connecting the anode cap to the flyback was loose on the flyback part. Thanks for your help anyway!
