I decided to install the Multi Space Invaders board in my Midway machine. That went without problems. I did notice that the buttons were not as responsive to I decided to replace the leaf switches with new micro ones. Replaced all the connectors with new ones and soldered quick release ones for better access should I have to remove the switch.
System powers up ok, but at the INP section, it states error. Left and right as well as fire work on the menu, but player 1 and 2 do not respond. The values on the bottom of the screen show that the switches are working but I can not get the game to start any games. I checked the connectivity of the wiring, that seems sound, but however, I can not get the player 1 or 2 buttons to do anything. I tried manually coining up the game but that doesn't do anything either.
Suggestions on what to look for next? Checked where the control panel plugs into the connector to the motherboard, and that is fine.
Everything was working fine until I replaced the switches with new micro switches.

Thanks.

Re-check the microswitches. They should all share the COM line, and the other wires go to their respective NO (Normal Open) connector. Nothing should be hooked to the NC (Normal Close) tabs.

I made sure the micro switches have the com connected together. This is the ground right?
There are 3 tabs on the switch. top one looks to be the com, center one and bottom one. I connected them the same way there were on the leaf switches. Desoldered the wire, added a connector and attached to the micro switch. I'll reseat the connectors again and maybe swap the center and bottom wires on the 1 & 2 player switches.

Ok, examined the micro switches again and decided, let's just swap the middle connection with the bottom one. reboot, INP now passes and I simply had to do the same for all the others as well. Good to go now. That's a relief.
Thanks for the suggestion. Don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I'm glad it was simple enough to do.

Awesome! Micro-switches usually have molded labels saying COM, NO, NC, but they can be hard to read, especially when your vision isn't as good as it used to be (my problem).
