Space firebird pinout

I bought a space firebird upright cabinet at an auction a couple years back in a bundle of 4 cabs. The cab has seen better days, and the wiring was all fuddled up when I opened it. I have no clue if the boards inside work or not, but would like to find out, and I'm not really interested in the cab (I will likely try to offer up parts for sale and give away the bare cab on this forum in awhile). So, I need to find a pinout for the connectors on the boards so I can make myself a jamma adapter and see A - if the board works, and B - if I like the game enough to keep it or just try to sell it all as a restoration project for someone with more interest than myself. Thanks ahead of time.

looking over my boardset, it appears that the pinout on crazykong is missing the power connector for the cpu board (connection P2), but, I can figure it out from the schematic in the manual :). Also, apparently, I'm missing the player 2 button harness :\

hey klov's database need some pictures of the space firebird cab! grab a few before you part it out!

I wouldn't really call mine a show cab... the wood's pretty beat up around the edges, there's no monitor glass, and I sold the marquee a couple years ago (which I sort of regret now since it was a really cool marquee).

Edit: I'm not sure what you mean about the klov database. I just looked, and there's already a picture of a cab like mine here http://www.arcade-museum.com/images/10/1061150847.jpg

The pinout on crazykong is a bit off from my board. It could be good for other revisions of the boardset (maybe the cocktail has a slight difference), or maybe it's just off. So, anyways, this is what I did for the pinout:

fingerboard space - value - board connector-pin
vp=video board
cp=cpu board

A - GND - VP1-1
B - GND - VP1-2
C - +5V - VP1-8/CP2-9
D - +5V - VP1-9
E - -5V - CP2-8
F -
H - KEY
J - CC2 - CP7-2
K -
L -
M -
N - GRN - VP2-1
P - SYN - VP2-6
R - SVC - CP3-2
S -
T -
U - ST2 - CP6-14
V -
W -

Y -
Z -

b -
c -
d -
e - GND - CP2-2
f - GND - CP2-3

1 - GND - VP1-3
2 - GND - CP2-1
3 - +5V - CP2-6
4 - +5V - CP2-7
5 -
6 - +12 - CP2-5
7 - KEY
8 - CC1 - CP7-1
9 -

12- RED - VP2-2
13- BLU - VP2-3
14- GND - VP2-4/5

20- P1L - CP6-2
21- P1R - CP6-1

27- GND - CP6-5/15
28- GND - CP3-1/CP8-1

This pinout was derived from the service manual page 31 schematic drawing from crazykong. http://crazykong.com/manuals/SpaceFirebird.man.pdf My cabinet was a 2-player shared controls cabinet (only 1 set of buttons), so the 2nd player button harness was not included in my pinout.

aha!~ on further looking there's three entries for space firebird, the first one that has the pics is "space fire bird" whereas the other two dont and they are called "space firebird". it was the other two i looked at based on the name in your post up top as i was curious to see what it looked like!

Cheers

alright! I got it working! I just had to get rid of the video interface board (it was screwing up the sync). So, I figured out a couple things about the pinout that differ from what I had previously posted, so I will change the pinout I wrote up later to match what I have now that works on my jamma cabinet. The only issue I have now is that the colors might be inverted. The background should be black, but on my screen, it is white. Before I took out the interface board, it was black, so I'll have to tinker unless someone else has an idea.

But, I can play it and the buttons do what they're supposed to do, so at least I know that the boards are still good.

I have just purchased a Nintendo Space Firebird Cocktail here in the UK I collect it tomorrow it's not currently working but looks in good cosmetic shape only things its missing are the instruction cards that sit under the glass top (I can't find scans of these ANYWHERE on the internet!) Do you think you could upload some scans for me so that I can print them out?

I will keep you updated with my progress on fixing mine though I am a beginner when it comes to fixing machines so it might be a long project I'm undecided on whether to keep it as Space Firebird, Convert it into a Donkey Kong or put a 60-in-1 in there with a small LCD screen.
