My vector monitor is not running..someone left on over night at my studio.

I pulled fuses and checked all ok..looks like 2 resistors burnt out...
can anyone identify R102 and R100

0 Black -- Bad
1 Brown -- Boys
2 Red ---- Rape
3 Orange - Our
4 Yellow - Young
5 Green -- Girls
6 Blue --- But
7 Violet - Violet
8 Grey --- Gives
9 White -- Willingly

Get the Bob R kit..it comes with all the needed resistors etc (leave the TO-220 transistor in there.. I think its better the TO-92 that bob sends.) Or spend a few bucks more and put an lv2000 in it.

any links for his Kit..just looks like 2 resistors out..over cooked all night..im sure if it was something crazy would have popped one of the four fuses

Check the fuses with a meter, not just with eyes.

If those resistors are burnt, many times a transistor or two close by may be bad as well. Q100, Q101.

Thanks Jlanoo... I met some old school electricians and the code is violet goes without.

yeah there are quite a few variations. I was actually taught "black boys rape our young girls but violet gives willingly"

space duel vector monitor problem

screen was perfect for a few days then this happened.

Dont want to adjust monitor if component has burnt out.

Thanks again!!

Do yourself a favor and get one of these..

http://www.vector-repair.com/

It replaces that whole low voltage section you repaired. From the pic it looks like you might be having a POT problem on the game PCB.

Odds are that the resistors getting burned are not the problem, they are a symptom of some other problem. I know vector monitors have a bad rep but they should be able to stay on overnight without a problem... but that's after they are properly rebuilt. The LV2000 kit that's been recommended will completely replace one of the least robust areas of the WG6100. Install it and a 'rebuild' kit (cap kit with bottlecap transistors with new heatsink compound) and reflow the pins on the headers and THEN you'll never need to worry about it again.

Thats the plan..think I will do this for my star wars also.

tried to adjust game card..it was all out of wack..so i put it back the way it was.

Seems like I cant pull the vertical up any further...any idea what component will do that on the WG?

Thanks!

R100 and R102 burning up point to Q100 and maybe Q101 which should be upgraded as per the WG6100 FAQ. It's probably not good to leave the monitor on for very long in its current condition (har har).
