The other day I got my Space Duel up and running after about 3 months of slow progress. Other than some slight monitor convergence issues it was playing great. Then yesterday I noticed that after a few minutes of the machine being on, a section of the screen would intermittently stop displaying certain vectors, mainly the player ships, but also the bullets and some of the 'asteroids'.

It also does it on occasion on the attract mode, but it seems to be more intermittent than while playing the game where as of now seems to be pretty much every time I start a game. I am currently uploading a video of what I am talking about to youtube as it is easier to get what I mean there.

Am I looking at a PCB issue or a monitor issue?

Any help at all would be appreciated.

*EDIT* Here is the video.

throw it in test mode see what it yells about. if nothing man idk if its monitor or pcb personally id say pcb cause its desplaying all colours and in same spots it seems to be random , however knowing the 6100 serries it could be anything.

I would say it's the monitor. I've had a monitor do that although it was a B/W monitor. I just went through and did a complete rebuild and the problem went away. I would look for bad frame mounted transistor sockets, and cold solder joints first.

Looks like the x bip is out just a tad.

The E I believe is for a bad Earom, or associated circuit with highscore save.

Is the earom one of the socketed ones I can swap? I have two spare boards.

How do I adjust adjust the x bio?

There are two BIP pots on the board Labeled X and Y Can't recall if there is an actually BIP test screen on the SD or not, but you can see in the lower left corner where the lines don't meet well they should, or pretty close to it. Just adjust until everything is square.

for x/y bip i use screen 2 and 5...but i would adjust it along with the y bip as well...you may need to adjust the screen size after doing this. also, a good test of your work on space duel is the game selection screen.

for the error "e" go to section M2 on the board, it looks like it is socketed...(sold my last board so not sure;)

Replaced M2 with a chip from one of my other boards and still getting the same thing. I also reseated all of the socketed chips and still getting the same problem along with the 'E' on the self test screen.

I also noticed on this board that M7 is socketed and on my other two boards it is not. So I am assuming it was replaced somewhere along the way.
