Space Duel side art "NEW"

google image search

Funny how everyone is using that one picture as the god of space duel colors. Do a google image search and find a picture that was taken with a flash and compare the colors. This one looks way off from the original posted. Here is a link to the page: http://www.basementarcade.com/arcade/sd/spaceduel.html

So, you're saying the colors are accurate on the repro?

He already said the colors are off. The picture of the art with the flash probably just looks worse than it actually is. Looks like all of those pictures could use a good white balance adjustment among other things.

Space Duel is a decent game and all, and even as picky as I am, I wouldn't lose ANY sleep over color differences on this particular game. If it were my dedicated Major Havoc, or my dedicated Space Ace, or a Tron, etc. Then I might be more critical. My Space Dual looks mint from head-on, but the sideart has ALWAYS been horrible. With NO art previously available, I didn't think mine could ever be nice enough to put in my permanent collection. Up to this point, my main reason for keeping it around has been to have a spare color XY in case one in one of my other games went out. The availability of this sideart may change that for me...

Old on top of the new

The only colors I am having a problem with are the blues. The red, yellow, white, green, orange, and black are right on. People saying that all the colors are so far off are wrong. The picture of the original game was taken under florescent lights at a distance. There are other pictures on the web of original Space Duels. And they all look different becuase of the camera and lighting. Here is a picture of the original side art taped on top of the repo with cut outs on the right and middle for color evaluation. Also, the side art is now vectored, so there isn't any pixelation.

Space Duel Side Art

Received my replacement side art for Space Duel, now vectorized and laminated. Brian also corrected the colors. They really look great. The original side art I recieved looked good enough, but I was afraid if this expert on Space Duel came over, he might pick them apart, say the colors were not exact, look at my dog, become a dog judge, and tell me my dog was ugly also.

Please post pictures, I might be interested in a set.

This is always going to happen

It's a matter of good enough or nothing

I am working on Lunar Lander Sideart and I am guessing there will be some color differences too once it's all done

As long as there aren't 2 next to one another it will be OK

Scott sent me film for LL and within 6 months it will be available.

Not saying dont pursue what youre doing, just letting you know I will be screening these and if your goal is to have a perfect set maybe I can save you some art time.

Cheers
