Just recieved a working board today, plugged it in and was so happy to finally see a 7 year project actually work - well actually half work. The Red Ship had total control however the Green Ship on the left had none. I checked all the CP harness wiring and the molex, everything seems to be in order, but nothing I've done has any influence on control of the ship. No thrust, fire, left, right, shields - nothing.
Is there an IC or something that I should be looking at replacing for the green ships' input?

Perhaps maybe someone in Ohio I can try plugging this board into their known working cabinet?

The input Mux is N9, but that handles both red and green. I'd check to make sure the inputs are toggling the inputs of that chip.

Did you check all the switch activations in self-test mode?

In the second screen of the self-test mode, as you push each button, the game will beep and one of the zero's on the screen will change to a one.
For more info on the self-test, see the game manual starting on page 1-8.

And, I'm sure you know this, but in a one-player game, only the red controls are active. For both red and green to be active, you have to start a two-player game.

I tried to get it into test mode but there's like 6 contacts and 2 wires and the possibility that the switch is bad. May need to just try to short the 2 wires together.

Okay, that's wierd. I shorted both wires to set it in self test. tested all the control panel buttons, only right side/red and start/select buttons would respond for about 30 secs, then suddently the green side started responding.
So I'm not sure what that was all about. I had just recently swapped the pokey chips with another board, but maybe it took running self test once to straighten it out?
Anyhow it's working now, and surviving power off/on. Still need to replace that self test switch. I think I've tried a few dozen different combinations of two wires with 6 contacts. Now that I think about it though, I never did try having both wires on the same side of the original switch.
I'm going to call the first pin on the upper left as your looking at it from the rear access, pin 1. Bottom right, pin 6. What pins should those wires be on? I'm wondering if Lowes or Menards has a similar switch.
