While waiting a few weeks for the MultiSega boards to arrive I finished the prototype
of a Atari MultiVector card for my Space Duel cocktail. I started the project due to
the limited space I have for games & a few extra vector boards that were collecting dust.
The MultiVector has Space Duel, Gravitar & Black Widow. The board has
an on board Xilinx Cpld & Atmel processor for game controls switching and other
uses which I won't go into now. It's sort of like a backplane for 3 Atari vector boards
to plug into. All video switching is performed by precision CMOS switches and board power
is controlled by Mosfets. For Black Widow I simply added 2 joysticks to the Player 1 control panel. There is no game menu to switch games so I used the (select+move up) to switch games and (select+move dn) to add credits. Attached are some pictures.

Very cool project!!! As a guy that actually owns all those games, I would still love to have that product. Also if you have any time to document the design (of both it and the multi sega) I would like to read it.

Also I have a star trek up and running just waiting for your multi sega kit. Let me know when its available and I will buy it right away.

Holy crap that is bad ass! Do you plan on making these and selling them, because if you do, count me in for one!!

Very, very cool and very interesting! Are all 4 original PCB's in there connected to your board? How are they powered?
Cocktail Black Widow! Who woulda thunk it?
If you made the next vector generator card that would work with GUI mame/USB, you would sell many of these very fast!

So you just plug all three boards into the adapter and you are good to go, correct? Looks like a nice clean setup.

Nice project. Any heat issues with having that many boards crammed that close together in a cocktail cabinet? I've had an Atari cocktail before and there is not much room at all.

I would love to have one for Space Duel and Gravitar switching alone. :) sounds like I would need to hide a three way switch somewhere to switch games with the current control scheme. Either way awesome project! Thanks for sharing!

I would also be interested in one of these if you made any extras. I get tired of switching out Gravitar and Space Duel boards!

This is Kickass.. like a multijamma switcher for vector games..well specific
vector games. VERY Nice! Definitly something I would lay down some cash
for.

If someone came out with an Atari Multivector PCB like the Multi-Williams.. they'd make a lot of cash.. I'd pay 4 or 5 hundred for something like that.
Black Widow, Space Duel, Gravitor, Red Baron, Tempest.

Do any of the Atari vector games share a common architecture?

Indeed. Jrok are you listening? A dedicated multi-vector that used a WG6100 would be awesome. I think Black Widow, Gravitar, Space Duel and Major Havoc all use very similar hardware. Maybe even Quantum and Tempest could be added to that group. Adding some sort of pincushion adjustment would make it able to handle Amp monitors as well!

Is it technically possible? With people interested in the possibility of reproductions of certain rarer boards, I have to think this would go over well. Probably not as big of a seller at a Multi WMS, due to so many not wanting to screw with XY monitors, but well.

Very interesting idea and product. It would definitely be nice to have a board like this for sale, but also a "real" multi-vector boardset for use in most of these cabinets (the wiring may be an issue).

No heat problems having all 3 boards together, after all only one board is powered at
any given time. Also each board is attached to the next board with 3/4" metal spacers
on all four corners so there is no issue with anything shorting.

The board can also be used in an upright Space Duel, you would just need to add
the 2 joysticks to the Space Dual control Panel.

Of course a new Multivector overlay would make it look even better :)

I suppose something like this with the spinner removed? :D

And I just happen to have an extra Space Duel in the Garage...
