Space Duel Blooming...Where is the HV Diode in this thing???

I bought a space duel that was blooming. I transported it, and now the monitor just has a line down the center. I checked all the connectors on the defection board like you suggested. No luck.

I wanted to replace the HV Diode like I did on my asteroids machine. I just opened the Asteroids HV cage on the Sanyo monitor, and the HV diode was inline with the anode cap like a fuse. I just replace the HV diode and it fixed the blooming on Asteroids.

I opened the hv cage on the space duel, and no HV diode. I think it is a wells 6100 like my tempest. Where is the HV diode? I cannot find it to replace. I figure this would be the first step in the fix because I know it bloomed bad before I transported it. I have an extra HV cage from a start wars well conversion that I can rob parts from, but I cannot find HV diode in either cage, just a flyback.

Thanks,
Rick

Color vector monitors do not have a high voltage diode (well, they do.....it's internal to the high voltage unit).

How do I fix blooming?

If the HV diode is internal, how do I fix blooming on a space duel? Do you have to replace the flyback, or change out all the contents inside the HV cage?

Thanks Rick

If it were bad, you'd have to replace the flyback.......but these rarely go bad. You, more than likely, have an issue with something else in the high voltage cage.
