Ive looked over the schematics and poked around in the machine but still cannot figure out my audio problem. Once in a while the game comes up with audio, mostly not. Sometimes I get the LD audio and not the board audio. Ive checked the speakers and the audio from the LD and they seem fine. Checked the volume pots as well.

Can anyone explain to me how the audio works on SA and DL? The speakers go through the board but Im not sure what components on there might be a part of the audio or could be failing.

Thanks.

Check the RCA cables that come out of the player. They have to make a tight 90 degree turn against the shelf and thats where mine broke down. Turn one speaker down and wiggle them near the player and see if the sound comes in and out.

I replaced them with Scosche cables that you can pick up for like 15 bucks at Walmart. They look like this:

They work well because when you cut them and strip the outer layer back, you have a nice little black and white wire to hook up.

Really was a piece of cake.

I used to have an issue where sometimes the audio wouldn't work, sometimes it would. Sometimes you'd get just the left audio, sometimes just the right.

It ended up being DIP switch settings, oddly enough. I have a ROM board that does SA and DL, and the DL ROMs were a different version than I thought they were. After I sorted that out, and adjusted the DIPs correctly I haven't had anymore issues out of the machine.
