I am looking for a reliable source for the Mitsubishi M51516L amplifier chip. It looks like an extinct chip. It was used on Moon Patrol and a bunch of other boards, so I figured somebody here may have a stash of them. There is one seller on ebay, but it is about $16 by the time I'd pay for the chip plus shipping, so somebody has to have a cheaper source. I know you guys .

Next time let me know before the auction. ;)

I have lots of old boards for scrap and could've pulled a couple for you for a soda or sandwich at the auction.

There was a thread about whether arcadechips was running again.

Thanks. I'd take you up on that if the cost of a soda or a sandwich wan't more than the cost of buying one off ebay....:D. Just kidding. I appreciate the offer.

At this point I just yanked one off a dead Moon Patrol board set that I had laying around and got Joe's Moon Patrol running. I'll need to decide if it is worth replacing it, since the rest of the board appears trashed anyway.

I have been talking to Mark the last couple weeks and im pretty sure he is up and running still. I do know a friend of mine placed and received an order from him last month. Although, I dont think he has any more of those amps in stock. Give him a shout and check. Give him about 24 hours for a response...in my experience.

Dokert, its a SIP package amp sorta like the MB3730. If I recall its 8 pin. I have been searching to get a few of these in stock but no luck yet. I can get it, just do know if its worthwhile to buy a hundred or more and then sit on them for who knows how long.

I also found a couple of other places that stock them.

It's good to know arcadechips is back up and running. They have some really hard to find chips.

After playing with Joe's board, I am starting to think the amplifier is still good. There are only 3 components that hit the 12V power line. The amp and 2 caps. I swapped in 2 new caps and the amp from my dead MP sound board and Joe's machine came up just fine. He has sound and music now.

Later (after my 9pm posting), I tested the the 2 caps I pulled from Joe's board. The tantalum one showed almost no resistance so I think it was shorted internally. The 100mfd electrolytic tested good. So for now, I think I will just solder the amp off Joe's board onto mine and throw it back in the box as a "one of these days" projects.

I appreciate all the help.

I have 3 or 4 of these for sure looking at the data sheet. I may even know where they are in my stash. LMK if you need or want one.

Thanks Dave. The circuit looks simple enough that I may just wire it up and hook the output from an MP3 player to it and see if it works. If it doesn't I may give you a PM.
