I picked up an edot that has some scratchy high pitched sounds that go in and out throughout the game.

It's not the voices/talking it's the other sounds of the game.

I had this issue with one of my trons in the past and it was the connector going to the board that is in charge of sound.

does someone reproduce these? I know bob does the video cable.
When I wiggle the wires around there is a change or speaker popping. I suppose if I wiggled it perfectly and left it alone it may do the job, but that would be highly temporary.

I think I took a 10 or 14 pin connector and cut it down and re-wired it on my old tron and that fixed the problem.

guess that's what I ought to do here. I would love a new connector if someone knows of anyone selling one.

I went in and found a loose connection, got it a bit more solid and all of the big sound issues are gone.

the sounds when I throw my discs are a little quiet, but I will mess with the volume controls to try to get them taken care of.

OK, ISSUE DISCOVERED.

this may come in handy to future owners of a chopped edot.

the lower of the 2 audio amp boards is there to run sounds to the rear speakers that in an unchopped edot would be behind/over your head. well in a chopped edot, those speakers are not present hence the sounds aren't loud enough.

I am wondering if someone can help me with a choice of speakers to put into this game.
I will figure out where I am going to put them, but is there a range of speakers that guys choose from?
values?

I know nothing of speakers.

love some help on a choice of speakers.

Check the wattage and resistance in the manual to see what the original ones are. From there, if they're normal shielded 6x9s, I think you can get those from Bob Roberts or Twisted Quarter. If not there, then I've had good luck at www.partsexpress.com. They have a huge variety at good prices. Most recently I replaced the speakers in my ROTJ. They had a weird resistance on them so the only ones I could find weren't shielded, so I actually built enclosures to shield them.

thanks jedi.

you have an upright with the speech mod right? did you install additional speakers?

I ordered the tmolding from the link you gave me, thanks.

I have someone who offered me some speakers from destroyed cabs. both a tron and a spy hunter, so one of them will work I am sure.

Yeah, mine's modded, but never added additional speakers. I suppose that if I looked at it and studied it enough, I could figure out how to do it. Maybe I'll get bored enough some day to do it, but I've got a few other projects to do right now...namely install a completely, never been used WG monitor in my Tron!

I have the advantage of having 2 edots currently. :)
my guess is, if you don't have the edot next to the modded upright you wouldn't know the difference of the background sounds being a little soft or non-existent.
the environmental cabs have 2 audio amp boards(running sounds to 2 different sets of speakers), I can only guess that the upright has one.
