The above is the best way i can describe what i here.

when i power up my killer instinct machine there is an audible low 'beep' which is quite loud compared to what the volume is set at. its quite annoying at night if i want to play and the kids are asleep. my current solution is to hold a towel over the speaker grills to muffle the sound when i turn it on.

i just wondered if its normal (i figure it past of the power on self test) can i stop it?

I thought about putting a switch on the speaker inputs to turn on after the test.

Thanks for your help

Alex

you don't need a switch on the speakers. the sound lasts about .5 seconds.

be thankful you hear that and not "DANGER-DANGER-DANGER" ;)

i figured as much. the volume (behind the coin door) is set to its lowest setting however the test sound is properly loud, hence my post.

i used to get the DANGER, DANGER, DANGER. till i figured it was time to switch to the CF HDD lol.

Mecha187 - would you say its much louder than the volume you have set the game to? also it may be only half a second long but its a long enough loud beep to wake up the little ones in the room above.

ah, I see now. put some white noise machines in their room. LOL

yeah, I can afford the luxury of having my games being super loud cause they're in a super loud game room, never saw it from the home-ly perspective.

I think the power-on sound is the same volume no matter what, I have my KI2 in a smaller arcade where the stuff isn't as loud and it chimes at the same volume as the Blitz '99, Cruis'n Exotica and MK4 all around it.

I don't know what to say here other than play when the kids are already up or move it somewhere else in the house?

cause disconnecting speaker wires just to turn it on will be something of a pain in the ass.
