i just got my 4th game today Soul Edge. I paid $50.00 for it and its in rather good shape. My question is its got alot of cut and spliced wires inside and doesnt look to be in the original cabinet. I its not...and you guys will know...what cabinet is it? Its got Mortal Kombat bezel on the glass and half a M.K. sticker on one side....was it a OG Mortal cabinet? If it is would it be better to put it back to that game? i want to restore it to like new shape and i like both games so it wouldnt matter to me to change it...here are some pictures of it....hope you guys can help! Rob

Nope its not an original MK cabinet. Funny you say its in rather good shape because it looks kinda beat to shit to me, good luck with it though

I don't think that's a dynamo. but the CP totally looks like it.

at least my dynamo doesn't look like that.

how big is that monitor?

funny thing is, my cabinet was an MK too when I got it.

I was refering to the condition compared to the price. $50.00 is in good shape...no not perfect but if you did read i said i wanted to redo it.....so yea its beat to shit to most but like i said for $50.00 and its complete i fell its in good shape....but it all IMO i guess.

NOW do they make side art for these
Dynamo cabinet if that is what it is....and yes it looks to me like it is after seeing others. What would you guys do with it...leave it Soul Edge or swap it for something else?

Also afer a little research on Dynamo cabinet they made dedicated cabs for certain games. How would i tell if mine was? Ive searched and most dont have the "extra" side panels like mine. Any ideas??

Sorry i missed that, beat to shit or not, for 50$ and working and is a solid cab it's a hellva a deal.

to answer the original question, It is a Dynamo hs-5 cab. the hs-1 that dose not have the "pop out" sides was meant to have a 19" monitor and the hs-5 was meant to have a 25" monitor.

That is a Dynamo generic cabinet. (HS-9 or something) There were many different models and styles made.
It is what I would call a "kit" cabinet. Meaning there is no telling what game you might find in one. It was one of many generic Dynamo cabinets made just for installing kit games in, nothing "dedicated" about it.
Games like Mortal Kombat and Soul Edge all came in a kit form as well as their dedicated counterpart.

Sideart was whatever came with the "kit" purchased to put in the cabinet.

HS5 is single piece sides. This is a two piece side... the Model number hasn't been varified from documentation IIRC.

Just watch out for water on these. It causes the sides to separate and fall apart completely. That's their downfall.

The control panels are interchangable with HS5's but I personally prefer the once piece sides of the HS5. I didn't like the two tone much... they are quite common.

I'm wondering if this is actually another KOAM. Their brochure does show a two piece, but the colors and CP are different. Although there are cut corner CP's for Z-Backs.

Does the back of this cabinet have any ID tags?

Yes i have the 25" monitor and the pop out sides....funny ive goggled all day trying to find another like mine and i find them but WITHOUT the pop out sides....were they more $$ to buy from the company. dont get me wrong i dont think i found the holy grail or anything i just want to know all i can before i start to restore it. Im thinking a Jamma 4 in one pacman maybe or even Mortal Kombat since it looks like it wants to be mortal kombat i should give the case what it wants..lol.

Yes it does its a generic clear plastic tag that has a place for you to put the info that has game and model number and a little sticker thats the same both are blank and might have vanished from time. how old do you think this case is? are they still making them?

Stick with a JAMMA fighter. MK would be decent.

I wouldn't put a Pac Man or anything like that... they don't work as well on a monitor that large.

which are quite common the one piece or the two? just curious

I would just throw in a cheap Street fighter 2 or Street fighter 2 ce pcb and have fun with it. Also It's not fun playing a mk1 on a dynamo, until you play on the original you'll know (wink wink knudge knudge) but It's not mine, so its your choice.

Here is the one I got. totally different cab.
