Sorry to all you Punchout nuts!!

It is hard to know the condition of the cabinet from crappy Craigslist pictures, but assuming it is in good condition, you'd need:

• Boardset
• Main wiring harness
• Original power supply
• Marquee
• Populated CP with harness
• Sideart

All of that is not only a headache to find, but it could easily double your total cost of the machine, especially if you have to get everything piecemeal online (added shipping costs on each item). Overall it may not end up being a terrible price for a complete and working PO, but it won't be a steal either.

The cabinet?? Dude the price for two monitors alone is worth it. F - the rest of it.

"Worth it" ≠ "steal". $125 a piece for Sanyos in God-only-knows what condition is not a steal; that's an eBay price. I got essentially the same cabinet with two working Sanyos for $50 (except my PO had been converted to "Time Killers" rather than SFII). I also got another Sanyo with zero screen burn and like-new picture quality for $25. Those things are more along the lines of a "steal".

I would love to see the inside of it, bet $20 it looks like a rats nest. . . . I sold my punch out years ago and it was the biggest mistake i ever made. . . .

Rather funny that just a few weeks a go I picked up damn near the same thing for $100.00. I figured the monitors alone are worth $100. I've found most of the parts to convert mine back to a Playchoice (what it was to begin with) so I'm slowly getting there. It's funny how 2 operators at some point had the same idea to convert these to streetfighter. The guy I bought mine from told me the upper screen was for the adults and the lower screen was for the kids. Pretty damn funny. - Barry

It was a Punch-Out to begin with. PlayChoice-10 was a kit for Punch-Out cabinets.

I had heard that some of the cabs were Playchoiced before they left the factory. The nameplate is a Playchoice so that' what it will become, besides I really don't care for Punchout.

What in the heck...what a dork! someone put that machine out of its misery.

Disgraceful.

While I absolutely agree with the remark of monitors in unknown condition, let me rephrase and say, "It's a steal IF the tubes aren;t burnt to hel.l" I typically add the remarks about the tubes and failed to do so this time.
You quoting your past "good deals" doesn't automatically make every Sanyo worth $25-$50. I got a fully functional PC10 with 10 games and one monitor needed a flyback so my total cost was $100. That was a steal. But that's not every day reality - that's luck plain and simple. That doesn;t make every pc10 worth $100.

The boardset, cp and wiring can be sold for a decetn price to recoup some money.

The PC-10 kits came with a PC-10 nameplate. I'd be surprised if NoJ was still building and importing their old 9/16" plywood cabinets in '86 when PC-10 came out. It seems like everything was coming out of NoA by that time, in 5/8" particle board form (e.g., dedicated VS., R-Type, and PC-10 single monitor cabinets).

I've asked on forums, but I can't find anyone who remembers uncrating a complete new dual monitor PC-10 straight from the factory. Maybe Ken Layton would know one way or another. I believe he was in the business at that time.

If your cabinet hasn't been repainted, you could check for signs of Punch-Out sideart once being there. My machine had a slightly darker area where the PO sideart once was; which formed a nice silhouette which was useful for lining up the replacement sideart in the right spots.

BTW, your plexi monitor screen is definitely from a Punch-Out. PC-10 used a two-piece glass screen with a metal bracket in the middle keeping them together. It also looks like it may be mounted upside down. The taller "half" of the screen should be on the bottom. On your machine it looks like the shorter "half" is on the bottom, but that could be an illusion caused by the high shelf on that PC-10 CP.

No, I said that I considered my like-new Sanyo for $25 to be a "steal". I figure it is "worth" over $100. It was sold to me as "untested" because the guy didn't have a Nintendo 120V —> 100V transformer handy. When I mentioned that I could go get one so it could be tested, he said that was fine, but if we tested it and it turned out to be a working monitor, then the price would go up significantly. I agreed with his logic and decided to take the $25 gamble, which payed off.

Keep in mind that there is a difference between what something is "worth" and a "steal". A "steal" is when you get something for significantly less than something is worth. You said that the $250 Punch-Out/SFII was a "steal".

A used JAMMA harness has essentially no resale value, and the same goes for a Swiss-cheesed Punch-Out CP. The boardset is a very common SFII: World Warrior which is worth about $25.
