Sorry, I'm upset and can't even get a response

Great advice Shanman. You nailed that one on the head. I right click and go down the line, open up 10 windows at the same time with all the threads that have a catchy title or something I might know about. I read TOO much, and don't know when to keep my mouth shut!

Karl, are you sure it's not the insane amount of games in your house driving you batshit crazy? :D
Are you feeling boxed in? heh. :help:
LOL, dude, that is part of it too. I have too much clutter around me. Even when its organized perfect, its still overboard. Until I have a larger house I have to deal with the clutter, or get out of the hobby of transporting games for people and picking up new junk.

I was messing around with this girl for a while. After a couple months one day she asked me some hard hitting questions about the games. I was bitching about having no room, she said you should sell a couple machines off. I think it frustrated her that I agreed but said I couldn't even select 6 of them to sell without getting severely depressed. One she asked was "How can you live like this?" I said it wasn't that dirty, she said no, the games everywhere, how do you live like this? Hehehehe, I don't call her much after that night, maybe once, and I'm sure she knows that it basically hurt my feelings that she said that, even when I'm agreeing!

Over the last 2 years I've been on BYOAC/KLOV I've gradually gone from constantly reading threads and posting to becoming much more selective. Nothing wrong with getting on the forums daily. Just stop listening to that voice in your head that tells you to read any thread that has any bit of interest to you. :) Try to stay within the quality threads that apply directly to you or where you can provide some good insight that not many other people will be able to do. You'll find that you suddenly are not finding the forums to be all-important.

Bingo!

I've done the same thing -- I'm now far more selective about the threads that I read and post in and I still get a nice selection of stuff to read here and I don't spend 2+ hours a day on the boards anymore.

It's a nice compromise.

I also tend not to wade into the politics/foreign affairs type threads anymore because there's simply no point. I'm not gonna change anyone's minds and I tired of being challenged on every point and spending inifinte amounts of time backing the points up.

Karl, I think he's got a great point here. :)

Yeah, don't go anywhere FullThrottle, you're my main source of KLOV EM game inspiration!

Take a step back, and just keep yourself out of those potentially heated threads. There are plenty of interesting posts each day without having to scrape the bottom of the pan for more reading (and angering) material. :]

The last two posts are very true, There are those threads that just suck you in, when you sensetive to it (I admit I sometimes am) your going to get sucked up in that whirwind and then stuff that's said can get people all worked up.
I just think it's WOW sometimes but the best advice is try not to take it all that serious cause after all it's all just internet.

You could always thin the herd of a few easily acquirable games or send a few to friends places to free up some space. I haven't quite gotten to that point but I'd like to add a couple pin projects to the house and I might have to do that to get them in comfortably. Not to mention I'd like my garage back. :D

carefull.. the "i'm tired of gay jokes" Mob will be forming.. lol!

I'm looking around right now at what to thin and can't come up with much that I can't find a couple reasons to keep. Just too many good games that took a long time to find. I'd also like a few more pins! LOL, yeah, you need your garage back... its worse than mine! I think if I got it more organized and had the garage setup to play games again it would be less stressful.

You guys should be in my shoes. It does get out of hand on here but if you look it is the same people saying the same old shit. I have a few fans that fellow every post I would do and give me shit about everything. I stuck it out and I am glad I did. Fullthrottle I have read your post they will be missed.

Another thing WRT the forums, know when to stop following a thread. It used to be that for threads I started reading, I would ALWAYS read any follow up posts in the future. I've gotten to the point now where I try to recognize when a thread's value has gone way down due to going off topic or whatever (which happens eventually most of the time!), and I stop clicking the "new post" button.

Come to think of it, this thread has run it's course. I'm outta here! ;)

Sounds like a good idea, I just don't like playing games in the garage and I am kind of thinking about doing some car restoration there so I need to rip though my projects and not get anything else. It's gotten a bit better and I finally sold the DKJR I had a CAX. Now I need to get rid of a Lunar Lander, sell some more crap and things will be looking a lot more spacious. :D

Karl, get a mame cab or xxx-in-1 if you haven't already and then let go of some of the games easily played on those kinds of cabs. Make a list of candidates and then rank them by value to you, then get rid of however many at the bottom of the list.

Oh, and clearly you have no room for a paperboy, so when you come across one don't give it a second thought. Just bring it to me. :D

I already lined a Paperboy up and she's coming home!!! Too late, its gotta squeeze in here. DOH! But yes, I do need to write down a list and shuffle them around, maybe figure out a solid number to axe.

When it cools down a little and I can finish shuffling the games around my house I'll know how many have to go. ORYK ZINYO was over this morning and he can attest as to how much shit is all over the place, although he said he was surprised that I had as much room as I do!

Congrats on the paperboy! I guess I'll let you keep it. :) But that means the next one you find you gotta grab for me, OK? :D I'd definitely make a special trip up there to pick up a paperboy!!!

It really is. 97% of the guys here are the coolest mo-fo's I've met. They'd give you the shirt off there back and a warm meal, even if it was all they had. Some of my best friends I have met through KLOV. Its a great network sight, its just not good when you get too much of it. Thats probably more of my problem.

I'm not going bye-bye, I just need to spend maybe a night or two a WEEK here and have a normal life again instead of spending the whole week on KLOV and maybe have one normal night in a week.

What about us girls??? Aren't we the coolest girls you've met?

Some stuff on and about this forum I find a little ridiculous too but that's no reason to leave. This forum is about something that you love and you shouldn't let people who are acting foolishly take that away from you.

What's with all the drama anyways?!? Goodness - and guys think girls are bad. :)

Yep, filtering what you read here is a must. Years ago when the traffic was slower I'd read everything.

Now I read maybe 5 or 6 threads a page, instead of all of them. If they start going too far downhill I stop checking in.

There are always ones that are easy to skip (political, foreign policy, local themed ones for other parts of the country, threads about games I don't play/own/have interest in, etc.)

Also, if I'm not actively buying or selling anything I don't even look at those sub-forums any more.

I end up spending much less time here, but still read the threads that interest me (games that interest me, local NW stuff, sports and console thread mostly).

I thinking locking threads is a better answer than deleting threads, but that is just me. And, it's also much better to avoid the drama and not participate in the ugly threads.

+1 - I read every single one of these types of price police / non-payment / seller feed-back, drama threads. I alway have an opinion. The thing is, usually if I would have posted it, an hour, or a day later, I know I'd probably wish I'd have never made the post, and never joined the thread.

So, with a little discipline, I keep my participation here in line with (I believe) its original intent: sharing pictures and stories of our collections, new acquisitions, restorations, technical help. Short term, its sometimes hard not to post my feelings. Longer term though, I'm always happier with the forum when I refrain.

I can keep my post count moving just fine with frequent pestering posts asking folks to register their 720s. By the way, I'm at 49. Someone who's never registered...please do so!

Funny, I usually refer to threads like that as "keeping em honest" threads. And they seem to work like a charm. It is a damn shame that it takes tactics like that to get people motivated to do the right thing. But, again...it will continue to happen because the group pressure kicks in and forces people to do the right thing to save their reputation.

I am actually surprised that some view that as a negative "drama" thing.
