I didn't see the video, but I did see some of the game demos. Honestly, while nifty, I didn't really see anything beyond what the PS3 can already do (or has already done).
A lot of people were impressed by WatchDogs, and the story does seem interesting, but as far as the gameplay is concerned, it looks like Assassins Creed with a Ratchet and Clank style interface. Nothing really beyond what the PS3 can do.
As far as the social features... I am not interested in those at all, period. I don't use Facebook or Twitter (I'm beginning to think I am the only one left who doesn't!). I have no interest in uploading my latest gaming accomplishments to Facebook, nor to Tweet what I'm currently playing, and the more they push this kind of thing, the more I am convinced that the PS4 just isn't for me... I am just not their target audience anymore.
In closing, I was one of the first adopters for the PS3. The technical jump from the PS2 to the PS3 was quite large, and I was actually excited about the console -- not so with the PS4.
When I saw tech demos for the PS3, I had to pick my jaw up off of the floor... I didn't have to do that this time. It was more like "Oh yeah, that looks like this other game I already have."
I know that it's very early, but SONY was the one who was already hyping it. I just didn't have the same feeling of the wow-factor that I did before.
I'm still quite happy with my PS3, and the PS4 seems to be moving in a different direction than I would like.
When I think of social gaming, I still think of people in the same room; not Facebook and Twitter; and while I like the idea of requiring real names for on-line matches, what is that going to do to my current PSN account? How will they verify my name? Will PSN Plus be a requirement now? I'm just not seeing the need to "upgrade", and the future of PSN is up in the air right now.
