Articles are all over the place, but here's one in case you missed it...

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13772_3-10467340-52.html

Essentially, it's the Sony version of the Wii-mote, for the PS3. $100 for a controller, sub-controller (read: Nunchuck), and Eyetoy camera. Anyone interested in this? Why/Why not?

And my editorial...
They make no mention of how much additional controllers will be...I'm assuming $40-50. That would be $150 just to get started with this thing (2 players), and that would only include the demo game (unless they decide to package it with some killer app that they haven't discussed yet. That's a steep entry cost, especially considering I already have a Wii.

They demo'd a few basic titles (Ping Pong, Street Fighting, Little Big Planet), and some used multiple MOVES at the same time for one player. The games I saw, while admittedly ALPHA builds, looked basic and dull. If they're going to put out the same stuff as exists on the Wii with better graphics, will that really get people excited enough to spend the money?

$100!? That's going to be a hard sell.....

The listed the following during the GDC demo yesterday:

Hardware - Controller
-Starter bundle (to be under $100) which includes the controller, camera and a game
-Console bundle (basically the starter bundle and a console, but they didn't specify HD size)
-Sub-controller (think of a nun chuck for the wii - I don't believe this is included in the other kits, but may be wrong).

Games shown
-Motion Fighters (think street brawling)
-Sports Champions (ping pong, gladiator fighting, boxing, archery, and prob. some others)
-Move party (don't really know how to describe this one... social/kid interactive stuff?)
-EyePet (a long delayed title... not sure if this is that version revamped, or a new version altogether).

They didn't say which game would be included in the bundles.

They gave a generic Fall 2010 date for everything except EyePet, which was listed as holiday 2010.

They also showed functionality with LBP (a second player manipulates the landscape while the main player runs through the level), and Socom 4 (this was to demo the sub-controller)

Oh, and there's not much else out there on price, but you can be notified when pre-sales go up at amazon: link

I hate motion controls. Wii Sports and Boom Blox are probably the ONLY games I've played where not having the motion controls would have made the games completely unplayable. Everything else is just tacked on junk. Stop it please.

+1 to this (although I also confess that I had fun playing Mario and Sonic Winter Olympics with my nephews!). These are about the only games where the Wiimote is used well. It works well for sport games, like golf and boxing, but not much else.

Lots of other games basically could be played equally well or better with an analogue stick, or have shaking the controller replacing a button, eg Mario Kart and New Super Mario Bros.

You can use it for FPS, eg Metroid Prime Corruption, and while it's nicely done in this game, it's not essential for FPS games to have this feature. People aren't going to spend big $$$ on a kit like this if there's no need.

As a result, Wii has a huge amount of terrible shovelware games on it that all make pretty poor use of the controller.

Considering that on the PS3 they're still going to have to make all top tier games work with the standard Dualshock3 controller, I can't see this being a huge success, and casual gamers interested in this are just going to buy a cheaper Wii rather than a more expensive and 'serious' PS3.
